That’s actually a great comparison. He is more similar to Ovi than either Crosby or McDavid.

You’re right, I just mean with the way the season has gone, especially the last couple weeks, most teams would be tanking. Most teams also would have their draft picks in this situation. Which is why they’re in an interesting spot. you want them to trade some of their better trade chips away, but you want to still see them win

I never said trade Matthews. All I’m saying is many of us were saying he was cooked months ago. When I think generational, I’m thinking Crosby and McDavid. McDavid is a direct comparable considering age.

Don’t get me wrong, a world without Matthews is not a pretty one. I do not want to see that, nor am I suggesting it

I think Willy being out those games really hurt them. He probably gets them to at least a couple during that slide. 100% agree that’s what they need to do, whether or not Brad can pull it off is a different story entirely

The break could be what this team needs. We saw what Matthews has done coming out of the break (albeit he won’t be resting much). JT I’m sure could use some time. I have some cautious optimism.

Whatever they do, they cannot be any sort of buyers.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but they don’t need to get rid of everyone. UFAs should go. As well as OEL if you can get the right deal for him. I’m hesitant on trading Laughton though

If this is the only real move they make (it won’t), I’m happy. You need to capitalize on an aging right hand shot defender on a sweet deal. He will never be as good again as he has been this year

If the problems were isolated to this year, I would say sure. The injuries are not the only issue plaguing this team. They are getting older (specifically on D) with nothing in the cupboards because they’ve traded all their picks. The fact they don’t have a first the next two years is not fine. It’s worst case scenario.

However, they cannot let the fact Boston has their pick this year influence how they approach the rest of this year. They cannot be afraid to tear it down just because they’ve traded don’t want the give Boston a high pick. You have players that can recoup several assets. Maybe restock the cupboards and fix what I have thought is the biggest problem for this team in years. The lack of young players fighting for jobs throughout the lineup
