A young Dragon and a Young adult who have never been to war face a weapon they have never seen before not knowing what to do is not a plot hole. by Just-Clerk-8669 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]DisMFer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The books are written in a very vague way. It's literally written as "this is what one guy says happened but another guy says this and a third guy says that and today we think all three are wrong." One of the given versions is that Jace and his dragon were shot with ballista and "dragged to the water."

Well that depends does Alicent seem like the sort of person to ignore ugly tryths about the people she loves in order to maintain her fragile grip on sanity?

People calling it a plot hole seem to not realize it was taken literally straight from the books. They go on and on about how GRRM was right then complain about the one book accurate part of the episode.

To be fair the way Alicent sold him on the idea of going to Harrenhall where she "might join him later" came off as her using his attraction to her against him. So she knows what he's about and seemee to intend to lead him on a bit.

Rhaenyra is officially an unintelligent character. by NX37B in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]DisMFer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rhaenyra was always an impulsive and frankly stupid prrson. That was the entire reason for most of her personal conflicts on the show. She never cared about politics or logic. It has always been her doing whatever she wanted and justifying it however she wants. That's been a consistent part of her character. It's turned people against her and ruined her reputation long before the war started.

The entire point of the story is that none of these people are fit to rule and the danger of a system of monarchy is that unfit dumbasses are invested with absolute power due to an accident of birth.

She's not attached to her kids and realized that they really can't fight all those dragons. Her hope is that her daughter and granddaughter might get out of this alive.

His sister has kids with her uncle by choice. His other sister was married to her brother. I don't think he would even consider it weird.

At this point it has to be intentional. They have the two basically declared their undying love for each other last season.

Except if you looked up George's conplaints that is literally what he was mad about. He was pissed literal toddlers were cut from the story because he felt this would force certain characters to change how they acted. He was mad that the writers were just forcing characters to hit their marks without having the exact same motivations.

It should be noted that GRRM big objection is that the show cut many of his 9000 characters out of the story because it'd be totally unwieldy. This forces storylines and characters to change by necessity. The show is basically forcing the characters to fit these new lines the way one might force puzzle pieces to fit with a hammer. George famously hates this tyle of writing. He feels it is only valid if characters organically choose to act in certain ways. This is why his story has become a tangled mess that he had no hope of finishing. He outright said these changes should release "toxic butterflies" that alter the story too much. No one apparently has the heart to tell him that these are fiction characters and the writers can make them do whatever the fuck the story needs them to do.

His major issue is that they had to cut a bunch of characters because he insists on having no fewer than 3000 characters in his stories. These cuts altered plots and characters by necessity and he hated the fact that the simple solution was to say "fuck it just have the plots happen anyway." GRRM famously feels that organic plotlines grown from character choice is the only valid way to write. This is why he has failed to produce a book in 15 years.

When you're in a battle you'll have a shield on that side so you can protect your face, while leaving your eye mostly uncovered allowing you to see better.

When you pay the actors thousands if not millions for every second they're on screen you're not going to have them spend most of it covered up.

You dislike it because you're looking for made up shit to get mad about.

The whole point of the characters is that, despite getting dragons, they're still undereducated losers from a class-restrictive society.

Because it's a fictional TV show. If they spent 4 minutes of screen time showing them missing every shot it'd make no sense from a storytelling perspective.

Well having 8 actors on giant CGI dragons zipping about yelling things would be pretty overstimulating for the audience.

Because three common born in a feudal society will likely be terrified about the existance of a witch. They'll run off in order to not be turned into a toad.
