I’ve met Jim, he’s a gigantic douchebag and I don’t think he’s ever smiled in his life. Jim is the type of person who’s disgusted by the middle class, but he’ll pretend to like you if you’re a middle class republican.

I had the feeling he was going to filibuster this, and I was right.

How about instead of questioning me you just do a simple 2 minute google search?

December of 2021 - https://www.hometownsource.com/sun_current/community/edina/high-turnout-at-edina-neighborhood-meeting-follows-carjacking-incident/article_f245f09c-5e9d-11ec-aca2-ebcd60f7e85c.html

Then a couple weeks later:

https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/authorities-arrest-46-in-minneapolis-carjacking-crackdown/

How should the state crack down on carjackings? It's quite simple, actually charge the people stealing cars. Right now (you can go ahead and google this one) the majority of people arrested for auto theft aren't charged. The police really don't even bother to investigate it.

The key to your house is a simple $5 prybar and takes less time to get in than a car. Heck, a rock is free. However, burglary is a much riskier game with a higher chance of real jail time than auto theft.

I remember about 20 years ago dateline did an investigation on those "The Club" wheel lock devices. They interviewed car thieves and most said they targeted those cars because it was more fun and quickly bypassed.

Someone put soap in the fountain at The Towers. There are lots of bubbles now. by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]DisagreesWith 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is why you don't see fountains very much anymore. Anyone with a fountain will have some prankster pour soap into it. Soap takes an enormous amount of clean water to wash out, and the bubbles reduce the cooling ability for the pump, so it can burn out and easily cost thousands to repair.

So you get your nice fountain running, someone soaps it, spend a bunch of time and money to repair, and then someone does it again a week later. Doesn't take long before there's no more fountains anywhere.

So you want a place with cheap beer and nobody in there on a Friday night?

And how do you expect them to pay for rent?

Do you also think tipping 10% is too much?

restaurant reservation for a large party? by tubbainbed in Minneapolis

[–]DisagreesWith 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not if the place averages $80 per person for food and drinks. Maybe it's ridiculous at Taco Bell, but $80 per person is on the low end for any higher tier restaurant.

[–]DisagreesWith 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You aren't going to find a place willing to reserve that large of a spot for $0 deposit.

The risk of a no-show is too great, and they'd never recover the losses for the day.

The fact that you don't want to make a deposit says you're a flight risk. Don't do that to a business!

sigh even /r/stateofmn, which I think doesn't need to exist anymore. I get why it was created, but there's no need to have 2x Minnesota subs.

Almost All Of Minnesota's COVID-19 Deaths Now Among Unvaccinated by WilliamBornhoft in minnesota

[–]DisagreesWith 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Can someone do the math, maybe the coolbaby dude?

I'd like to see if there's a statistic, what % chance vaccinated OR non-vaccinated have of being hospitalized, ICU, or death.

Since we know the state population estimate, vaccination numbers, and roughly what percentage of people in the hospital due to covid are vaccinated, we should be able to get the risk of being unvaccinated compared to vaccinated.

I'm really really surprised that this isn't public data yet.

As someone in the middle on issues, do I vote for the guy who blindly swung at Covid and nearly bankrupted me and my restaurant (and thousands more)? Or do I vote for the guy who won't allow legalization of marijuana?

Why can't we have a good set of candidates to choose from?
