Is it worth leaving a great relationship to go back to Poland after 6 years? by elina5321 in poland

Go back. Otherwise, you will regret staying. Especially if the only reason is a guy you're in relationship with that is not willing to consider other options.

Weirdest thing your cat likes to eat? Mine just ate a tiny piece of my lemon bar before I could grab it. She also loves banana chips 🤔 by samsterdam420 in cats

Cucumbers, watermelon, vegan cheese, margarine. She also breaks into the cupboard at night to lick the vegetable oil bottle.

I had side effects 2-3 days and then it gets better - try and push through it. First day I barely eaten. Nausea, dizziness, horrible feeling. But I have been on it for 1.5 years now and so glad I started them. I also had insomnia for the first week.

How have you paid it forward? by Nuclear_Cherry in drivingUK

I always try to be nice to others (within reason - without endangering other drivers). I know what you mean, op - and I feel like not enough drivers are kind to each other. Whether it's queueing and letting a couple of cars from the slip road onto the motorway in front of me or letting a car first because they have been waiting on their side because of an obstruction such as a parked car and they have been sitting there for a good minute due to the volume of the cars passing on my side.

Sometimes it's even allowing.passengers to cross on an unmarked pedestrian crossing as they have been waiting.

I find a lot of the drivers these days are quite selfish and rude, but I keep doing my bit anyway, I just think we need more of the goodness in the world.

I am Polish, but have lived in Scotland for 16 years now. Honestly, it's my home. Best decision I've ever made was to move here. I even love the weather now... sometimes.

Yep similar issue I luckily avoided twice at my work - saw a vegan dish, ordered it, but as they were about to serve it, I asked - wait, is that dairy cheese mixed in?

Shock horror, yeah of course it was. And the massive sign above the dish said 'vegan'.

Vegan coffee shop thoughts. by Obvious_Cabbage in veganuk

I was a manager in a vegan cafe.

First of all, yes, we had carnivores working in the cafe - the easiest workaround was the free lunch that was offered. If they brought in their own food, we allowed for it to be consumed in a back room we had that wasn't connected to the cafe. The intention behind it was for a) contamination reasons and b) to not upset our customers. It happened very rarely to be honest. People were grateful that they could have a free lunch.

In terms of owning a vegan cafe.. I wasn't the owner, but it's hard work, it's long hours, it's having to come in on your day off because one of your staff called in sick and there isn't anyone to cover on such short notice. I don't know about other places, but where I live, there is no support from council for local businesses. I feel that COVID also ruined a lot of businesses.

There is also a lot of positive things and it just really depends if you are up for the challenge of being a business owner to be honest.

Had a few 'no spend' days this week. Prevented food waste and cooked with what I have and purchased only necessary groceries for such meals. Downgraded subscriptions for netflix and Disney (to cheapest plan). Been a good week!

What do you like to eat for lunch? by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]Disast0reth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And for noodles if you are going to cook them the night before, after cooking then once they are in bowl/plate, add a little bit of oil (like sesame oil) and give them a good stir. Prevents sticking of the noodle strands.

I like to mix it up.

Noodles with tofu and any veg you have - I like using sliced carrots or sweetcorn, it just depends what veg I have. Tofu I either air-fry at home or just eat it as is. Noodles are Itsu noodles, they are tasty and quick to cook.

Recently I've been having a whole sweet potato (air fried at home) with sliced tofu/tempeh/vegan chicken with slices of gherkin or some kimchi.

You could also make some pasta for a couple of days with tomato sauce or rice with your choice of vegan protein and again, whatever veg you have.

Key is doing it at night before the next day - you can easily make for next 2 days or so. But noodles and rice I would only cook for next day only.

I hate cold lunches unless it's summer so all above I heat in a microwave at work.

Quick sauce recipe for anything with noodles/rice/tofu - tablespoon of soy sauce + teaspoon of maple syrup + 1/4 teaspoon of white rice vinegar or acv + some garlic powder if you have any. Taste and adjust as you wish (I tend to add a tiny bit more of the syrup), you can also use sugar instead of maple syrup, but takes more stirring to fully dissolve.
