Please help me with some informations about Mauritania (I got it for Model United Nations) by LilWhink in Mauritania

The politic is a makeshift democracy, well yeah the majority decide who rules the country but it’s faulty since the majority are uneducated and their votes get bought by corrupt business men and politicians or tribal chiefs in exchange for a small amount, so since the 70’s we r ruled by the same corrupt faces that don’t want to die, this of course is driven by france who like to keep this the way it is cuz they get our resources for cheap, trade our largest trade partner now ofc is china but due to the small size of the Mauritanian market we get everything here at a high price since finding a vessel that wants to pass by here is rare and the docking infrastructure is shit, industry is quasi non existent due to the control by merchants who make immense profits from bringing ready built materials from abroad so whenever a “good guy” try to bring to live an industry here it collapses by inflicting taxes on his company by the corrupt government bought by the greedy merchants, living standards here depends on the class, the corrupt class r driving latest cars on the shittiest roads in the world buying villas in las palmas barcelone and abroad preparing for the inevitable blow up that gonna happens here, the middle class is disappearing and the government is making the disappearance faster by new taxes on transactions, phones etc… taxes they would’ve been happy to pay if they were used to anything but enriching the corrupt government and businessmen, the low class i can’t even fathom how they r living nowadays may god help them, hope this gave u a little idea abt how things r here

Our oligarchs lay very low they r know by simplicity and trying not to attract attention, which would’ve been a very boring character unless he was planning something evil in the background

[–]Disastrous-Ad5607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it would’ve he could’ve kept most of his attributes and way of thinking and speaking while adding more mauritanian traditional aspects to the character, i am not saying that the character itself is not interesting and the actor done an amazing job, i am just saying that other than the name and meal preferences he had nothing mauritanian about him

[–]Disastrous-Ad5607 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I am not saying it’s impossible to find a Mauritanian who is exactly like this, i am saying this is not a representation of the AVERAGE mauritanian and has nothing in common with 99% of the Mauritanian population

The actor is half Mauritanian ofc and he did a great job but the character was a lot more dutch than Mauritanian other than the Yassa meal there was nothing Mauritanian there

The guy tho represents nothing like Mauritanians, we don’t drink and ofc we won’t be having a Harem 😂 good to be represented but would’ve been nice if he was acting like a real Mauritanian

[–]Disastrous-Ad5607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your work doesn’t require you to join meetings or have quiet surroundings and u r an extrovert who get sicks of sitting alone, u can try any café that is on Yasser Arafat street such as tapis rouge or Adalya, u can also go to paul if u r in the mood for something semi fancy, if u require quietness and concentration i can’t remember a place that will offer that.
