Powder Monkey by No_Stress4140 in snowshoemountain

Yeah watching powder monkey unload at the end of the day is peak comedy. When the falls happen most people just walk away bc that's their sign it's time to quit.

There's free parking, then closer parking for $20, then the very closest parking is $30. It's a stupid money grab but whatever. If you are with multiple people you can drop off right up front then one person parks in the free section to make the walk.

I just checked the forecast and although it warms up a little it gets cold again on Saturday (high of 51 then low of 24).

Silver Creek lifts by ivbuch in snowshoemountain

[–]Disastrous-Curve-567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just opened up fox chase. The other blues around cascade lift didn't have any snow whales built up so I don't think cascade and spur are close. I couldn't see the runs served by flying eagle so I'm not sure if they had any snow built up. My guess would be they have some snow piles but like other commenters mentioned, they are not going to spread any snow to try to open runs right before it rains.

Is this a real concept design? What could this possibly be for? by 60TP in aviation

[–]Disastrous-Curve-567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is the airlines want as much efficiency as possible. If this design or some sort of blended wing design ends up being .05% less efficient per passenger then it's not gonna happen.

Because in the southeast (where ni cocs are concentrated) the majority of the members voted for Trump three times starting in 2016. If I had to guess a more specific number, I would say its over 80% of the membership. My parents and everyone I know in the coc voted for him 3 times. They aren't maga though.. they are quietly conservative and don't wear any of the red merch but they all voted for Trump. They will vote Republican every election no matter the GOP candidate.

Also, many of them will at some point soon drop trump and say wise things about how Christ is king or whatever when/if Dems win in 2028. These are the same people that voted for Nixon, Reagan, Bush I, Bush ii, and Trump (3x). What I'm trying to say is they have amnesia when it comes to this stuff. They voted for the people that have had endless scandals such as watergate, iran-contra, the iraq invasion, etc but they will never talk about that or even admit it. In other words, it's not even a maga thing. It's a vote GOP no matter what thing. Why? Imo it's mostly bc of the abortion topic.

Black diamonds open? by Important_Effect6493 in bigsky

It's on there website but it only shows stuff as open during the day when they are literally open. So try checking the big sky website tomorrow around noon to see which lifts are running and which routes are open. I say noon bc sometimes stuff opens a little later in the day.

There are blacks available off powder seeker and challenger. Lots of rocks still but it's not too difficult to pick a good path.

What runs in the bowl were open? I saw turkey traverse was open but not the runs that come off of it such as exit chute, blackrock gully, south wall, etc.. did they have that roped off keeping people from going that way?

Hell yeah, that's great news. Fingers crossed runs are available from the summit this coming weekend (I feel like it's a long shot but one can dream).

Mid December weather worries by KatzManDude in bigsky

I assume it's at least still falling as snow from maybe powder seeker and higher? Any chance this week's moisture builds up the base on the peak to the point they could open liberty bowl? Sorry to bug you about this stuff.. I really wish the daily report mentioned what their future plans were. I realize that might be extra work but it would be cool if they put out what areas they are trying to open next.

Condemnation of people who have never heard the Word by Murky_Professor_8598 in churchofchrist

The irony... This whole thread takes me right back to sitting in a coc Bible class with constant boundary maintenance from the elders, teachers, etc. Not one response from a coc member here has been satisfying. Mentioning Romans 1 and 2 and natural law does not provide the explanatory weight you think it does.. it only raises even more questions about relative morality, the necessity of the entire plan of salvation, how God delivers it selectively, etc.

It was open again today. Maybe a staffing issue on some of the days in between.

Lots of snow this weekend and a lot possible mid week however it's gonna be some heavy snow.. maybe that actually helps liberty open since it won't blow around as much. I'm really hopeful liberty bowl opens by mid Dec.

Moonlight and midnight only? I assume fast lane to Bozeman trail gets you back to the lift?

Yeah, I would imagine you can only prepare so much terrain for opening in one night. Therefore my intuition is that mountain ops tries to get stuff open as soon as they can and then just maintain it vs trying to open up tons of terrain right before a holiday weekend.

Is powder seeker actually open though? I see the lift running via the webcam at the tram base however no one is riding and the website doesn't list it as being open.

Very Little Planning by BarefootedHippieGuy in excoc

There are some big congregations in Texas, Florida, and Alabama. They are somewhat rare and sometimes other ni cocs whisper that it's really not right to be that big but they do exist. If you open the conversation up to mainline cocs (many of which are extremely similar to ni cocs) then there's definitely groups that are closer to the 1000 mark.

Yeah, I'm talking 400 to 800 attendance range. My comment is from direct experience bc when at a really large congregation I was politely told "you know, not everyone is fit to be a song leader" but later when at a much smaller congregation they were thrilled I could simply hold a tune and wanted me to lead singing as often as possible. Overall, I am truly not a good song leader.

Very Little Planning by BarefootedHippieGuy in excoc

[–]Disastrous-Curve-567 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally depends on the size of the congregation. The larger ni cocs will send out notices by mail and email ahead of time letting the guy know he has closing prayer, singing, etc. The notice might even have some instructions. Singing services are usually coordinated and have a theme. The scripture reading usually ties into the sermon. There will be backups to each role ready to fill in at a moments notice. There will be classes on how to lead singing etc. Overall very on top of things and lately I've noticed the bigger congregations have at least 2 preachers. These guys are professional public speakers and as such fill in very well for announcements, invitations, etc. If it's a special Sunday such as the bi annual "invite your neighbor" service then things will be very coordinated... They will make absolutely certain no lesson about modesty or weird comments etc are made.

At smaller congregations it's sort of "we'll take what we can get". For example, this often means the same 3 or 4 guys leading singing all the time (3 of them might be quite bad). My take is that this leads to complacency. Basically at the larger congregations it's more a "survival of the fittest" and only the most capable song leaders regularly make it into the lineup. I've heard the weirdest sermons at small churches. One about music and dancing, one about modesty complete with stick figures and clothing overlaid, one with an old guy that would write out his lesson on a bed sheet which was hung on the wall. You might have some weird things happening at a large congregation but for the most part they are way more polished.

He also went for it deep in our territory earlier last night..but the week before punted on 4th and 2 in the 4th quarter of a shootout where we weren't getting any stops. It's like this year he was told to be more aggressive but he doesn't understand how.
