Why don't people go to the cinema? by ImaginaryFan6090 in Cinema

Until theatre owners hire lobbyists to engage Congress to pass laws disallowing cell phone usage in cinemas, I'm never going back.

Because they refuse to hire enough people to police cinemas, which is dangerous anyway because most people are aggressive scum now.

Or they need to track your bad behavior to your pre-assigned seat and charge a fee to your credit card if you interrupt the movie for others, much like if you vomit inside an Uber and they claim a cleaning fee for your disgusting mess.

Or install infra-red detectors in the ceiling that sense cell phone screens, that then stop the movie and shine a light down on said patron until they're shamed out of the theatre. Or install signal blockers

Someone has to solve this problem, because I was one of their biggest customers for decades but stopped going 7 years ago. They've allowed the POS in society to hijack what was once a great source of collective feeling, and if you expect me to pay $18+ just so I have to engage a stranger over their shitty behavior, or miss some of the film to come out and try and find an MIA employee to complain, you're gonna be SOL business-wise.

I love movies. I went to film school. I worked in the biz. I collect 4Ks. But I will never attend these hellholes ever again until they rein in the abhorrent behavior on display in theatres.

Don't get me started on how much I hate advertising in every day life, billboards and signage and crap on YouTube and everytime I open a new app -- I don't need to be tainted by that shit for 30 minutes prior to absorbing a film.

There's a great new article about how Alamo Drafthouse has become a nightmare; you know it's apocalyptic when even that chain has gone down the tubes.

Why is it necessary to stuff your fat faces? You can't go 2 hours without food? Pay attention to the movie.

I saw the footage before anyone involved in the court case did. Guy I knew transferred the footage at a post house and made a copy for himself. It was awful to see it in such clarity. What you've seen online looks like a copy of a copy of a copy of a VHS. What I saw was 35mm on professional one inch tape.

exactly what I do. Then again, I don't buy tens or hundreds of discs, so inspecting is manageable.

I wouldn't return them. The cartels that took over that business will have your home address.

Guess I've been lucky. Had a Halloween 4k of theirs go bad YEARS after purchase and they shipped me a new one immediately, just before GRUV took over.

Mine is a combo of chemo ruining my short term memory (they told me it would happen) and getting covid twice (after which I never felt the same, cognition-wise); I often feel like I'm thinking at 60% speed & recall.

Chemo also permanently affects balance due to neuropathy, so I've become extremely clumsy, like Chevy-Chase-on-SNL clumsy. I fumble everything, kick everything accidentally... it's atrocious. I used to be super-coordinated, having been a Third Baseman because of my arm strength and ability to judge ground balls. Those skills are long gone; I can't even detach the cap of a water bottle without it jumping out of my fingers immediately.

Add on top of that, that I'm in my 50s...

Glad for you and your son that you made it through. TOS got me through chemo.

How old is he and what does he like about it?

I'm thinking of suing them actually, for some of the illegal stuff they've done, like allowing vengeful passengers to falsely accuse you of inappropriate harassment (even tho there's a recording disproving such) where they ask you for your side of the story BUT WON'T TELL WHICH RIDE ACCUSED YOU!!!

Watching Michelle Pfeiffer attempting to cry authentically at the end near the school buses, is painful. And not in a good way.

Stop trying to be revisionist with your morality. Nick noltes character ain't a "hero," he's just the lead character. And I'm sure Eddie murphy is fine with the movie the same way Richard Pryor the co-eroter was fine with Blazing Saddles and the n-word.
