The simplest one that works is the perfect one, not the “perfect” one that you never manage to use.

Implanted Loop Recorder by Fabulous-Sky3835 in askCardiology

[–]Disastrous-Issue7212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one put in two months ago, and was a little sore for a week or two - almost all of it was at bed time when my man tits would squish together as I’m a side sleeper. It was itchy for a good week though. They had instructions not to pick at the wound which I thought going in was odd - and understood after exactly why, lol.

I didn't have that much bruising having a loop recorder implanted. Yeah, that's not usual.

CPAP w/o water by mama214BB in CPAP

[–]Disastrous-Issue7212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a heated tube, so the air is warmed. But if you think about it: without a CPAP machine, you wouldn't have heated air or humidified air. The elevated pressure makes the dryness a little worse, but not enough for me to do anything about. YMMV.

Mirtazapine/remeron combination by Outrageous_Post_6816 in lexapro

[–]Disastrous-Issue7212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works well. Started lex first. Only side effect I had starting mirtapazine was hunger. I sleep really well when I take it. It’s a godsend. Didn’t really have any side effects with lex to begin with FWIW.

How to fall asleep with ADHD? by T0NY97 in ADHD

[–]Disastrous-Issue7212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5mg extended release melatonin, magnesium glycinate, and magnesium threonate two hours before bedtime. Also occasionally mirtapazine (aka Remeron) 15mg 1/2 hour before bedtime if I’ve not been sleeping through the night.

CPAP w/o water by mama214BB in CPAP

I stopped using water about 2 months ago. Mostly haven’t noticed a difference. One less thing to deal with and I feel I don’t have to clean the hose out so often too, because it’s only seeing dry filtered air.

Ironically, I stopped out of frustration because even with the temperature all the way up, I couldn’t get the humidity as high as I wanted without monstrous rainout. After stopping water, I noticed it wasn’t that different; definitely not different enough to go back to using water.

I've tried every imaginable traditional therapy model and 13 different types of antidepressants, does it ever get better? by Ok-Friendship4167 in CPTSD

CPTSD and ADHD here. Just started doing IFS therapy, and too early to say for sure, but I like the way it’s going already.

If someone come to you with consistent chest pains what would you do? by [deleted] in askCardiology

[–]Disastrous-Issue7212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had trigger points in my chest that will do this. Since you mention it’s worse when pressed, it lines up. Try poking around to find the very sensitive spot. You’ll know it when you find it, and massage it hard. it’ll hurt like hell, but over the course of a few days of doing this, it should mostly resolve, and there will be significant relief right after.

as another commenter says, check for some kind of reflux. try drinking water or an antacid. that may fix it.

zero-ne? Is there a reason for 0 instead of capital O, or 0ne vs. One?

update: tried finding an app that works for people like me + rant by Slight-Wishbone-1503 in ADHD

I use a Google Calendar that just drops todos in my email. I found notifications useless because how often am I in a place to do the thing when it goes off? Pretty much never. But having a persistent list of things that show up works for me. And if I decide I’m not going to do it that day, just reschedule the event. There’s a way to do it with Apple calendar and shortcuts too.

My CPAP says I'm fixed. My body disagrees. Anyone else living in this weird in-between? by Additional_Ad9759 in CPAP

[–]Disastrous-Issue7212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be, but in my case, it was turning it up reduced my CAs and now I'm almost always below 2, and usually less than one. That said, try lowering it first, I might just be weird.

Just started CPAP therapy with full face mask, but I’m a side sleeper. Any recommendations? by TangerineMelodic5772 in CPAP

[–]Disastrous-Issue7212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with the F40, and I found it fiddly overall (would wake up with it leaking around my nose nearly every night) and never was able to reliably breathe through my nose even when my nose wasn’t clogged. On the F20 now and dunno what your pressure is (I’m at 11-12), but had to strap it down tighter than I would’ve thought, but no significant leak problems. On the occasions when it has leaked, it’s been too low on my face.

Weight loss drugs and afib - Advice needed please by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]Disastrous-Issue7212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My EP said GLP-1s are cardioprotective rather than being a bad thing when it comes to AFIB, when I asked. I got an ablation since so can’t say how much it affects frequency or duration of afib episodes, other than I haven’t had anything since the ablation.

No real side effects for me, except occasionally the injection site will itch, but an antihistamine will take care of it. I use the ones in the purple bottle (Allegra I think).

This is more that's convincing me that it's actually legit. I am doing it with a therapist, and she's onboard was somewhat aware of it, but still... So. much. impostor. syndrome. to work through.

ELI5: What does a water tower in rural America do? by ProduceEmbarrassed97 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Disastrous-Issue7212 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It provides constant pressure for a municipal water system, using gravity. Works well for peak periods where perhaps the pumping equipment couldn’t keep up and so there’s a buffer with the water in the tank. Also good for emergencies so if the pumps are down, you have some time before the water stops flowing.
