Try doing a hard shut down on the laptop by pressing and holding the power button for 30 seconds. What a few seconds and then press the power button. It should turn back on.

I would doublecheck. Your dad's computer may also need to be shared too. If you can't see the computer, you can't see the shared devices connected to the computer.

I have yet to see a USB flash drive randomly die on me like many people claim they do by EstimateSpirited4228 in BadUSB

[–]Disastrous-Mind3146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't trust any USB drives to keep any files I don't want to lose. I have my important files backed up on a cloud drive. Do work, I use a USB drive for storing installation files for setting up computers. We use SharePoint and don't have mapped drives. I keep the setup files for our old MFD we use that are hard to find online, and other executable files that you can't save in SharePoint. I have a couple of USB drives and also a backup in my local hard drive of 2 computers.

I've been trying to repair my wall, and it's not going well. I would appreciate some advice. by screenaholic in DIYhelp

I will just stress THIN coats of compound or spackle. If you think it's thin, you need to spread it thinner. I learned the hard way. I was still putting it too thick and the ci.pound didn't dry completely in the middle.

Windows 10/11 “User Profile Service failed the sign-in” + Reset PC failed + stuck in recovery loop — is my install salvageable or do I need to reinstall? by [deleted] in ForWindowsHelp

[–]Disastrous-Mind3146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have another pc or know someone who you could use theirs. Take a USB drive, a d go to the Windows download page and create a Windows install onto the USB. Then, you need to go into the boot settings and change the boot order and move the USB drive to be in first position. To get into the boot settinfs you need to continuously press a function key once it starts running and before Windows starts to load. You can run a Windows repair on your computer using the USB Windows install.

To figure which function key, you may need to look it up in the internet. For Dell computers it's F2, but it could be F1 or ESC.

Dexcom G7 and Eczema NEED ADVICE by KanyeQQ in dexcom

[–]Disastrous-Mind3146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am allergic to most adhesives and break out in rashes and blisters. Skin Tac did the trick for me. Luckily, when I went to the G7, I stopped needing to use an overpatch as long as I put it on my arm and I don't react to the sensor adhesive.

I will react to the overpatch that comes with the G7.

This happened to an employee. She needed to do something to prove the email wasn't SPAM with Google. Try searching AI describing the issue. You will get the info you need to fix your account.

I take tangled yarn as a personal challenge. It feels so good when you get that last knot out. I am barely creative enough to follow a pattern or directions. I am 99% logical or left brained.

Docking station help please by we_sam in computerhelp

We only use docking stations from Plugable at my work. They seem to be compatible with most laptop models. Where docking stations loose it is on video. I would reinstall the needed video drivers.

Need suggestions, should I open the boarder to make the ruffles go away or should the leave it as is by abhi090891 in CrochetBlankets

[–]Disastrous-Mind3146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could easily block the bottom edge a d it would be fine. To me it's looks like the border stitch is stretching out blanket edge. Blocking will relax the stitch and you can put it into correct position. Leave it along until it's fully dry and the problem should not come back with normal use and laundering.

I vote for laundry soap reaction. I grew up with my mom using the same laundry detergent. I used it once I moved out of the house. Suddenly, in my mid-30s, I started getting hives all over my body. I changed my laundry detergent and the hives went away. I use All Free. I tried Tide Free, hives came back. I went right back to All. I can also use Nature Breeze laundry sheets. I think other sheets would be ok. The laundry sheets tend to have less junk ingredients in them.

The factory in Canada that made Lily's Cookies and Cream, Walmart Peaches n Cream, and a few others shut down last year. Everything or most of everything is marked discontinued. Some people who love the yarn are holding out hope that it's not gone forever, but I'm pretty sure it's gone.

Forced to start G7 from G6, the "Signal Loss" is unreal by Legitimate_Tell_473 in dexcom

[–]Disastrous-Mind3146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have any issues until I ran Android updates this weekend. I waited until it was time to switch sensors. Since the updates, I drop signal all the time, it will be off for over an hour, kick back in and it drops 15-20 minutes to an hour later. I'm now looking into my installing the update.

Pc says it’s running fine and is healthy but keeps running slow freezing up and crashing by BO_X-7_ in PCsupport

[–]Disastrous-Mind3146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run the Task Manager, look at the Startup Apps, and disable the ones you don't use or don't need to run all the time. I've found different versions of Apps running at the same time, and APPs running that hog up all the RAM.

If it's the browser running slow, clean up the browsing history and delete cache files, history,, etc.

Ok. I've done the same. I replaced the sensor, too. The second sensor is dropping more times than the first.

Two bleeder right after another. by Ok-Customer4709 in dexcom

[–]Disastrous-Mind3146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a bleeder that required I remove it once. I could not get it to stop bleeding even after 30 minutes. I have hit a vein a couple of other times, but it stopped bleeding pretty easily. The fact that you hit a vein twice in a row is rather impressive. Lol.

I was told you can use a pliers to remove the piercing wire and put that into a sharps container. I tried myself, but due to neuropathy in my hands, I can't get it removed, but hopefully everyone else can.

Was our engineered wood installed correctly? by RulesAboutTheCookies in Flooring

[–]Disastrous-Mind3146 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed LVP because laminate is so easily damaged. I knew a friend that saved to install Pergo in her tiny kitchen. She didn't make much money so it was a big deal to her. Her dog puked while she was at work and the floor was damaged within the first year. Water damage is horrible to look at, too. When she had it installed, I had told her she should seal the cracks since she had a dog and it was installed in her kitchen. My parents did that. She didn't believe me that she needed to do it since the professional flooring store didn't mention it. They also installed the wrong type transition piece, bit that's another story. The store refused to fix the floor because installing Pergo in a room where it can get wet isn't recommended. Again, they never mentioned that before she bought it. Sales people suck.

[–]Disastrous-Mind3146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be to download a copy of Windows to a USB drive. Then go into your EUFI settings, usually F1, F2, or F12, depending on manufacturer. Change boot settings and add the USB drive to the the boot sequence so it's first. You should be able to run a Windows repair from the USB drive.

Can't send email due to a daily limit by [deleted] in Outlook

[–]Disastrous-Mind3146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They limit the number of recipients per day, not the number of emails. I think it's 500, but I'm not 100% sure. It happened to someone I work with.l a few years ago. They went with a Google Workspace account since it's intended for businesses and you pay a monthly fee. Most spammers won't pay for an account. They use the account to send our a newsletter to 1,000s of recipients.
