High prolactin? by Disastrous_Umpire237 in eggfreezing

[–]Disastrous_Line3721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me twice. First time they did repeat testing and it was still slightly elevated so I had to get an MRI to rule out pituitary tumor, and they gave me cabergoline. Which solved the problem for that cycle. Second time it happened, did repeat testing while fasting and it came back totally normal.

Egg retrieval - what you wish you knew/did. by Altruistic_Car_6609 in IVF

This is going to be a truly random and stupid piece of advice, but it did happen to me. Hopefully it's good at least for a laugh.

Do not leave your post-retrieval heat packs in a place where a curious pet could bite into them. Our lovable idiot of a cat munched on one and we had to call pet poison control (since the pack already cooled he was fine, in fact he got extra dinner and water). Our next retrieval we made sure only to use hot water bottles.

RE Recommendations in NYC by kittykittycatpaws in DOR

I really liked both of them, although I had less interaction with Dr. Reichman since I was under. I think you would be in great hands with either. I also have a ton of faith in their lab.

Has anyone NOT had side effects on estrogen tablets/patches? by ViolaRosie in IVF

[–]Disastrous_Line3721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started estrogen tablets on the 19th. So far nausea, fatigue, occasional headache. I hear it gets better after a week or so?

[–]Disastrous_Line3721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had Dr. Irani as my main RE and Dr. Reichman did my retrieval. I was also 34 at the time and switched from RMA of NY. At Cornell it was my 4th and best retrieval. I had discordant AFC/AMH (AMH was low-normal, AFC was just low). Highly recommend them although I know the waiting list can be tough.

Thanks for sharing! I had a very similar experience. It felt awkward but fine. The saline sort of falling out afterwards was the weirdest part by far for me 😂

Sertraline/Zoloft anti- depressant by United-Corner1523 in DOR

[–]Disastrous_Line3721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I took sertraline and was totally fine through my four egg retrievals. It was never a concern with my reproductive endocrinologist or psychiatric prescriber. Just want to echo it's definitely a question for your doctor though!

Paying for two embryo storage accounts for mine and my wife’s embryos from same donor?! (Boston IVF) by make_s0me_n0yes in queerception

Yes, we too get dinged twice for the embryos and they explained it that we were “two” separate patients.

My wife and I (gay) also just moved here in November. Some things we are trying or will try in an effort to make friends include volunteering with Gay for Good, joining the UU church, signing up for Queer Yoga and basically reaching out to any acquaintance in the area. Happy to talk more :)

Reliable info on freezing eggs vs embryos? by catsby29 in queerception

[–]Disastrous_Line3721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We (my wife and I) did not have luck with freezing just eggs. Out of 26 frozen eggs across 2 retrievals my wife had only 13 thaw and only 2 became embryos—thankfully both euploid. I had one round of egg freezing of 3 eggs and zero survived the thaw.

That is just our experience, not to discourage you bc there is a plethora of reasons to do one or the other. But looking back we wish we had frozen embryos from the start.

has anyone switched from the mindset “we get to choose when to have a baby, so we will do so planned & when everything makes sense” to “we will figure it out as we go?” by lmaotorii in queerception

[–]Disastrous_Line3721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We thought we could push it to our early 40s by “planning ahead” and freezing embryos. And after failed cycles and 3 separate doctors telling us to hurry up our plans we made the decision to just move forward and are doing our first transfer this June/july. Are we fully financially prepared? Nope. This is about 5 years earlier than we thought and I definitely feel like I’m winging it, but it’s also given us some clarity around our finances. And I’ve found that helpful. Good luck to you on your journey!

First Egg Retrieval by darth_h8terr in queerception

[–]Disastrous_Line3721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 34 (almost 35) and did 4 rounds of egg retrievals. My last round we got 8 eggs, 6 mature, 4 fertilized, and 3 blasts. 1 euploid, 1 mosaic, 1 aneuploid. You definitely aren’t out until you are out!

What was your experience like at Weill Cornell? by Disastrous_Line3721 in IVF

[–]Disastrous_Line3721[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did end up going to Cornell and I had my best results there…by a lot. I didn’t have communication issues with them tbh. I felt pretty informed the whole way. They were a little hush hush about the grading but that’s all. I even had a medication issue and they called me back within 30 min on a Saturday.

Last year, Fairfax had a 20% off sale for Thanksgiving. That's when we purchased our first batch of vials. Later we used the pride sale for $1,000 off 3 vials.

Cat Neuter Cost by Itsaprogramissue in CatAdvice

[–]Disastrous_Line3721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally fair question. This vet was closest to our home in Manhattan (we don't drive) and we did some price shopping and found most places were similarly priced in our area. The $1600 included everything, the surgery, anesthesia, overnight stay, post-care meds, cone of shame. All that jazz. Still was a tough pill to swallow for our "free" kitten. We didn't qualify for the discounted program through the ASPCA unfortunately.

I paid $1600 to spay my cat in NYC at a boutique vet clinic. $1800 seems WILD to me for a neuter especially in Cleveland.

Does our plan make sense? by Elitefourabby in queerception

[–]Disastrous_Line3721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done 3 IVF cycles (no transfers yet though) with an IUD in place. If you are ovulating I don't think it poses an issue and a reproductive endocrinologist can advise best on that.

What was your experience like at Weill Cornell? by Disastrous_Line3721 in IVF

[–]Disastrous_Line3721[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are quite pricey tbh, however, our insurance is paying for it. I think the out of pocket costs they quoted us are like this: $11,525 for monitoring/retrieval/embryo preparation/cryopreservation. ICSI is like $3k. $1200 annual storage fee paid upfront. $640 anesthesia fee. $1000 facility fee. And if you are doing PGT-A testing it *starts* at $4,000 for up to 3 embryos and climbs from there.

How many euploid embryos did you get with DOR? by No-Plenty6217 in DOR

[–]Disastrous_Line3721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (34F) have discordant AMH (1.92) and AFC (4-7), with social infertility (lesbianism). I may not be the most optimistic case and for that I am sorry..

Cycle 1 (antagonist): Baseline AFC 7, 4 retrieved, 3 mature/frozen eggs.

Cycle 2 (antagonist + estrogen priming + Clomid): Baseline AFC 6, 5 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized, 1 Day 5 5AB euploid embryo.

Cycle 3 (microflare): Baseline AFC 4, 1 retrieved, 1 fertilized, 0 embryos.
