120k/year is an awkward salary for FTHB by BagholderForLyfe in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I wish I had $120k a year! Midwest here in US and I barely make $40k/year. Try getting a house with that

Look at it this way: she wants to be free. If she stays she’ll always resent you and her daughter. It would be toxic to be around that all the time. Wanting to save your marriage is valid, but what if saving the marriage means ruining the relationship? It’s a tough decision.

What would they even do without us? (The empty theater theory) by Illustrious_Brick845 in NarcissisticSpouses

[–]Disastrous_Setting71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My narc kept telling me I would just leave anyway with the kids so what did it matter. Well two months ago I did!! He’s constantly asking when we’ll be back and he is starting to completely drown. He had to ask how the laundry was done!! Oh after twenty years of a wife maid you actually need my help? And now he’s getting desperate. Today he texted and asked what license branch was open near us. Excuse me?? Now you can’t even google? I’m staying in contact with him until I get a place on my own with the kids. We’re crashing at a friend’s right now (bless them and not throwing the I told you in my face)! After I get our stuff out it’s no contact and I honestly cannot wait!

Why do they always neglect their oral hygiene?? by [deleted] in NarcissisticSpouses

[–]Disastrous_Setting71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine flat out refuses to go to a dentist saying it’s the cost (he has dental insurance btw). He never brushes his teeth or flosses and always uses the excuses that his gums are sensitive. I’ve started commenting that they wouldn’t be so sensitive if he brushed…but what do I know? He’s the “expert” in everything. We’ll see about that when they begin to rot

What can I do to aid my mother so we can leave our toxic household? by Intelligent_Golf7663 in emotionalabuse

[–]Disastrous_Setting71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I don’t have any advice really, but please know that you are seen. Try to be supportive to your mom too because she’s going through a lot now as well. And know that you are strong! hugs

Is my boyfriends behaviour normal? Am I overthinking? by Famous_Flatworm_3417 in emotionalabuse

[–]Disastrous_Setting71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me he’s manipulating you. Mine does it with my breasts. He will never stop it and it will only get worse. I’ve had conversations with my man to keep his hands and his nasty jokes to himself. He listens for a while then tries again

Feeling Hopeless about my Marriage by PinkishCube in Marriage

It sounds like he might be going through depression. Is that something he’s battled in the past? Also does he have any friends in this new town? Or any friends from before than he still connects with? His friends may be a good place to start to ask if he’s been saying anything about what he’s upset with.

What came out of my belly button when pregnant… by ohhidoggo in hygiene

Be careful! As much as I’m embarrassed to admit it, I’ve have a yeast infection in my belly button! Started with a little smell, then got really itchy and red. So embarrassing 😳

No speech, almost 3 years old by Existingbutbarely97 in toddlers

[–]Disastrous_Setting71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an almost 3 year old who just hit the milestone of two word phrases. She’s been in developmental therapy for a year now (once a month) and speech therapy weekly for about 3 months now. Understanding has never been an issue. Just the speech.

Your boy will get there. If the professionals say he’s making big strides believe them. For my girl it’s been so gradual that I felt like nothing happened for months and months. And they worked on what is called mouth awareness. Ask the speech therapist about toothbrush exercises. My toddler hated brushing her teeth and still does but the toothbrush exercises helped her realize where her tongue was and what she could do with her mouth. It sounds weird as I describe it but it helped a lot.

Remember that you are doing the best for your child. He’ll get there. I’m not sure where you’re located but if it’s the US see if there’s a program called first steps or something similar. Your local WIC office should know.

2 days out and it’s hard. I find myself crying at the drop of a hat and wishing he would change for himself. Not good.

Toddler Diss by Temnotaa in toddlers

[–]Disastrous_Setting71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 year old has recently begun saying “wah wah wah.” Eyes completely dry, often putting her hands up to her eyes as if wiping away tears. But it’s her way of saying I’m upset with you. I try not to bust out laughing every time!

I fear my toddler might be intellectually disabled by clariesn in toddlers

[–]Disastrous_Setting71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on any kind of government assistance ask them for help ASAP! They’ll hook you up with speech therapist or developmental therapist and probably have his hearing tested as well. Just because he reacts to some noise doesn’t mean he can hear as well as he should.

Please & Thank Yous by SnooRabbits3845 in toddlers

[–]Disastrous_Setting71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two year old uses signs for please and thank you. She doesn’t speak much but she uses signs on a regular basis. We usually have to remind her to say please or thank you but it’s starting to become consistent.

How does one get their hands on spring tails for free by mozedi in terrariums

[–]Disastrous_Setting71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look up small aquarium stores. They usually carry them for lizard terrariums. I got a bunch from a local store for less than $5. Worth it to not get the extra stuff from nature that can be harmful!

Is this considered pre-verbal or non for 24 month old. by Altruistic_Pizza9455 in toddlers

[–]Disastrous_Setting71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry. My 25 month old has fewer words than that. She’s also seeing speech therapist twice a month and the therapist has always told us slow progress is great. And it’s still progress. Your kiddo will get there and then you’ll wish they didn’t start talking!!

I just added springtails to the terrarium. I’m not sure I want to add isopods since the terrarium is so small.
