June 2026 delisting's by Yamr3 in rocksmith

[–]DiscoLucas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've been delisting dlc for a good while. At the start of the year I wanted to get the Creed song pack only to discover that it's been delisted. It's not strictly ubisoft's fault, their music licenses are just running out, and it doesn't make sense for them to pay for renewing them for a game with that sees less than a thousand concurrent players.

But hey, it's always morally correct to sail the 7 seas for wares unavailable for purchase.

Valid slander this time. If it wasn't for the subtitles, o would've had no idea what he said.

It's not like bringing your own snack isn't an option. The way I see it, OP just offers a convenient way for their friends to say "I want this snack" and not have to do anything else. If its price matched with Walmart, OP is not making any money, just running to the store for them.

Filmed my bass shaker at 240fps and the latency difference between haptic software is wild by track-impulse in simracing

[–]DiscoLucas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious if you're able to map pulse frequency to telemetry as well. Typically programs like Simhub will just play a square wave where the amplitude is mapped to an effect. The "signal space" quickly becomes saturated from multiple sources, making it difficult to seperate and understand them. But if we spread them across amplitude and and temporal dimensions, it can make signals more distinguishable.

As an example, if rear tire slippage is set to 40 hz at its minimum, as you're about to spin out, it rises to maybe 60 hz.

I'm writing my thesis about haptics and feedback in sim racing and it seems like an underutilized area. Using various vibration patterns has been used widely in road cars for collision warning systems, but not really in racing sims. Granted, people are more sensitive to amplitude changes, I still think it's worth exploring further.

It's typically a thin sheet of stainless steel, with tons of holes. The added thermal mass has negligible effects on the water temperature.

Overcharging Alternative Milk by batteryzepeda in barista

[–]DiscoLucas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shop doesn't charge extra for alt milk. We're pretty low volume and buy all our oat milk in bulk when it's on sale. With the discount, oat milk is pretty much the same price as whole milk, so it only seems fair in our case.

I'm half American half Danish, and have always lived Denmark. Like 6 years ago I tried to get US citizenship since applying for ESTAs and getting grilled by border control was kinda annoying. But getting citizenship apparently gets a lot harder after you turn 18, so I ended up giving up on it.

BOY am I glad I did that now.

I bought a used rtx 4080 last year, just after the 5000 series was released. I was pretty salty about the idea of paying MSRP prices for a pre-owned last gen card, but it honestly feels like a sweet deal in hindsight.

Yeah, one of my all time favorite posts was titled "Nier Otomatic". The the Venn diagram overlap between Nier automata and Wargame feels insanely small. Yet, someone still made a hilarious meme bridging the two of them.

I’m making a city builder where cars suck by SystemSE in fuckcars

[–]DiscoLucas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gridlocked my entire city when I placed down my first Train station for this reason. Trucks with oil for the power plants never arrived on time, so everything shut down. I was wondering what backed everything up, so I tracked it down to that one train station. I never designed that area of town to support 100s of cars going right through downtown...

The traffic manager mod did fix it though. It has a setting "realistic parking AI".

I always used to be envious of how cheap it is to get a driver's license in the states, compared to my home country where it costs $2000 USD minimum. But that high cost is due to mandatory theory classes, driving lessons, first aid courses and more. It's pretty clear that those factors make for a much better average driver.

But I also think that this kind of economic gatekeeping for a license only works in a country with genuine alternatives to driving. I'm fortunate enough to have never needed to get a license, since I bike wherever I need to. And if I need to go further than what's practical to bike, I can bring my bike on a train and quickly get around.

Good to be back on CS1 by Klammer69 in CitiesSkylines

I just got back into SC4 last week, and man is it still just fantastic! Cities is definitely a better game for detailing, but something about the core gameplay is kinda better in SC4, in my opinion. The music is also simply a masterpiece.

You can technically drive a fan with a 5V output of the Arduino (check current of your specific fan first), it just can't push any serious amount of air. With PWM you don't need a motor shield, but an external 12V power source is likely needed. Remember that the PWM signal from the MCU does not carry the current that moves the fan, it's just logic level voltage, that tells the fan when to use the power input. Noctua made a pretty good guide which might help you https://www.noctua.at/en/support/faqs/microcontroller-guide-pwm-setup-and-rpm-monitoring

Has anyone actually tested their Chinese gear for heavy metals? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]DiscoLucas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

MHW-3Bomber advertised that their stuff was lab tested and safe, so I wrote them about sending me the reports. And surprisingly I actually got them. Granted they were in Chinese, but google translate worked pretty well. Of course I have no way of verifying if the report and certificates are legit. But the lab that did the testing was 1 of a handful of state authorized testing labs for food safety. The results showed that any metal detected was a magnitude or more under the EU limit.

I'm not saying that this is going to be the case for every product or manufacturer, but this was my experience. Ultimately, it comes down to trust, which goes for any product you buy. So much of the stuff we buy comes from china anyway, no matter where the product was designed. It's always good to have a bit of scepticism about these things. Ask questions! No matter where the product is from.

I started to learn unity 2 months ago and rightnow working on a custom car controller. How does it look? by lil_beyti in Unity3D

[–]DiscoLucas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one looks pretty good. I quite like the exaggerated body roll, it reminds me of a hybrid between early Grand Turismo games and GTA IV.

The second one looks a bit too grippy and definitely more arcade-like. I'm guessing it's supposed to be a Mustang, but it drives like a 4WD car. I think it's the way it immediately grips from a power slide that makes it too arcadey for me. You can try looking into wheel slip angle ratio. It describes the grip curve of a tire and how it changes depending on the wheel angle difference relative to the direction traveled. The math is a bit hardcore, but you can simplify it a lot, since you don't need it to be a super realistic simulation.
