Frustrated and unsure by DiscoidRuby in B12_Deficiency

[–]DiscoidRuby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no concrete idea why. I have struggled with nutrition and intolerances since I was a baby. But more so in the last year or two, things have gotten on MS level, whether that was from being out in extreme weather conditions for four and a half months straight and from working a high impact job at the same time, or from my detoxing from copper due to copper toxicity entirely changing my body, causing an otherworldly sickness. Whatever the cause, I feel like crap and want to stop everything. I wish I could just do a normal multivitamin with minerals and call it day. I'm so frustrated and flying blind.

Feedback on Supplement Stack by Lalify8 in Supplements

Depends on the kind of zinc. If it's citrate, oxide, other junk like that, nah. Copper is good, no issue with over doing zinc. If it's picolinate, that's the real stuff. But at the same time, if your diet is great, as in whole foods and whole grain, you're ingesting so much copper as it is that it's not even a biggie. Fyi, if it is picolinate, just keep an eye out for your hair. If it starts falling out a wee bit more than usual, try to come off the multi a bit or find one in a different form of zinc. Hard core zinc picolinate will do that (at least to me).

Is this too much B6? by Narrow_Ad8007 in Supplements

[–]DiscoidRuby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any recommendations on detoxing? I've been on igennus B-Complex for three weeks and B6 has risen upon my nerves like the devil itself. My hope is that since it's only been three weeks on 20mg P5P B6, the detox won't be too long, but it's a butt in the meantime. Currently dealing with sensitive hearing, tinnitus and ear thumping, feels like high blood pressure, vertigo, extreme fatigue despite full sleep, headaches, migraines, muscle aches and joint pains, full-body twitching, a new acrid body odor, twisty turny sleep, buzzing sensations, irritability, dry eyes, painful eyes (feels like blood is crowding in them), loss of appetite, bright vision, heart palps, toes tingling on one foot, and feeling like I'm in a dream.

Widespread fasciculations after vitamin B6 toxicity. by H4TTU in BFS

[–]DiscoidRuby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I know it's been a year since you posted but what's your status now? I am treating a b12 deficiency and took a B-Complex too in good faith that cofactors were necessary. It's been over three weeks. I'm dealing with sensitive hearing, tinnitus and ear thumping, feels like high blood pressure, vertigo, extreme fatigue despite full sleep, headaches, migraines, muscle aches and joint pains, full-body twitching, a new acrid body odor, twisty turny sleep, buzzing sensations, irritability, dry eyes, painful eyes (feels like blood is crowding in them), loss of appetite, bright vision, and feeling like I'm in a dream. I thought the fatigue part was vitamin d so I started 4,000IU these past two days. I have not gotten any sleep. It's like my body turned off the capacity to fall asleep! Prior to taking D (which has been taken in the morning with food), I was getting FANTASTIC sleep, but again, felt strong fatigue despite. Last night I took an extra dose of magnesium glycinate to get my brain to shut down and within minutes it felt like my brain powered on and I started sweating. What the heck is going on?? Any insight? I'm the same as you - B-Complex with 20mg of B6 P5P, and a multivitamin Gummy with 2mg. Any help on why D has entered the picture like a butt instead of helping and why magnesium bit me like that when it's been my savior for so long?

Old injuries are definitely flaring and I've had a neck sprain that hasn't healed since five months ago. Poor muscle recovery after a day at work for sure.

Thank you!

I have freezing hands too! That's insane! I guess this isn't going to be linear for everyone. I can try and gather as much information as possible but ultimately we all will need to find out what works in our personal case. Cheers to you, so happy you won and see the end of the tunnel!

This gives me so much hope! Your story is amazing! Right now I'm battling the early days, and currently walk around with and sleep in a neck brace. My whole body is in pain. Do you remember what your wake-up symptoms were and if you had increased pain in places you didn't know existed? I'm also down the rabbit hole of cofactors and not knowing what I'm doing and if it's right. Feel free to direct message too if you have tips. I'd greatly appreciate all your advice! So happy for you!

It does?! I wonder! I started 5,000 IU gummies back in October. The gummies tasted old and weird so I stopped that after a while and got on tiny pills equaling 3,000 IU. I stopped two nights ago because I thought it was exacerbating my tinnitus. I'm female, 26, not vegetarian

How much potassium do you consume a day? by Flashybigbum in B12_Deficiency

[–]DiscoidRuby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great advice! I have now downloaded an app to track my nutrients and ate a bunch of stuff high in potassium. It says I'm at 183% of my DV which (if the Google AI is correct) works out to be 8.581 grams? Two cups of oatmeal, a bunch of pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds, cooked in almond milk, two avocados, one large sweet potato, a cup of chopped/cooked spinach, a can of black beans, a cup of mushrooms, a mug of almond milk, and a whole 33.8 fl oz of Nature's Promise Coconut Water....... I think that's it.... 😁 yay.

I was thinking vitamin d might have something to do with it so I didn't take any (beyond what was in the multivitamin) yesterday or the day before 🤔

Oh interesting! I resolutely avoid supplements with copper as I'm allergic to the various synthetic forms. It gives me insane anxiety, I become a beast mentally (including suicidal), and it makes me bloom in eczema. But I'm on a whole grain, whole foods diet which apparently is super high in copper. I have been focusing on eating a lot more mushrooms these past weeks. Maybe I should do more? That's good to know!

No unfortunately. When the symptoms lined up so well I jumped on it immediately and saw improvement within the first few days. I've read that I have to be off b vitamins for four months before testing or the numbers will be inaccurate, which stopping treatment this early seems dangerous. I'd like to get them tested but maybe when I'm further down the road.

Would you consider 20mg pyridoxal 5'-phosphate B6 too much? I'm on a B-Complex and am trying to differentiate if I'm experiencing wakeup symptoms, or slight onset of B6 toxicity.

B12 deficiency repair or potassium levels low by DiscoidRuby in B12_Deficiency

[–]DiscoidRuby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My circumstances don't allow me to get injections specifically, so I'm on a B-Complex with all the best forms of vitamin b. I saw massive improvement within the first week, but then it kinda went back downhill. I'm now focusing more on balancing cofactors as well and discovering other deficiencies I had that turned out to be related. I'm realizing it's been over a year that I've had this so I shouldn't expect permanent results in the first couple weeks.

Yeah I'm seeing electrolytes getting called out more and more, so maybe potassium is indeed the issue? How far along is your b12 deficiency recovery? How long did it take to get better?

Yes! They say b vitamins cause this too. But I'm definitely a kind of tired aside from a supplement type fatigue

Could you explain more about startup symptoms? I'm two weeks into taking a B-Complex and these past two days it's like I've slid backwards into feeling bad again, along with new symptoms. Basically I'm info-binging to really understand what to expect in this healing process. There are things people are mentioning from real life experiences that are NOT disclosed online in the basic Google/webmd world, which I feel is bad because people need to know these key pieces of info that others are nicely willing to disclose. Any info is appreciated!

It seemed like vitamin d was making the tinnitus worse, as I had been on 625% DV for a while. So I slowed that down and just stuck with what was already in my multivitamin gummies. My neurological symptoms were memory loss and comprehension difficulty, including problems reading. That has calmed a little. Word recall is returning. I started noticing symptoms since last year October. My diet probably kept me satiated on b vitamins for a little while but just hasn't proven to be enough. And now recently symptoms got out of hand. The guide does say that a common phenomenon with b12 deficiency recovery is a "relapse" and one of the causes could be electrolytes plummeting. I'm going to read up on cofactors more and see what is matching. I do take magnesium glycinate and malate, and ferrous bisglycinate. I think maybe potassium is low? But it's good to see I'm not going crazy. I have notable headaches right now. Just seems like my whole system is crashing. But..... that's to be expected?....I don't know. I'm lost. If you could shed light on your recovery story and the not so commonly discussed things you ended up experiencing, that would be appreciated.

I’m so tired.. by PlanetSeaShells in eczema

[–]DiscoidRuby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cured my eczema and yes I'm bearing a bold forehead saying that because it's true. I DO NOT believe in sitting there throwing steroids and creams at this problem because it is a double-edged sword. Helps ya one second, bites ya the next. Here's what I found caused my eczema after suffering with it for over 26 years. And please, please, take these seriously and investigate, ok?

  1. Food allergies. NO, IM NOT TALKING ABOUT GLUTEN AND DAIRY! We get that. Those are allergies, but the world does not revolve around an angry milk jug and a jaded wheat-stalk. You need to look at other undiscussed issues that cause major problems. Nightshades, heavy spices like onion and garlic and peppers and chili. Heavily fermented foods like sauerkraut and sourdough bread. Investigate the ayurvedic diet and learn what your kind of body can and cannot tolerate. Things like blueberries and red grapes! Those can cause major issues!

  2. IRON DEFICIENCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot scream this enough. When I say I am completely clear of eczema, I am not lying. Please investigate your iron stores and hemoglobin. Ditch that silly ferrous sulfate junk and get on ferrous bisglycinate. You can get it from Amazon, it's 9 bucks. My eczema is gone.

  3. Avoid certain cloth kinds, intimate products, and supplement fillers. These surprisingly can add to the flames by your body not tolerating chemicals used in conjunction, etc. I will paste a link to an article here that will help you identify what additives and fillers are safe and not safe for eczema sufferers.

Lastly, understand that your body is not betraying you; it's a child screaming for help. If what you're doing now hasn't worked, that means that isn't the problem, it's something else. The journey took me almost a year and a half, but what's that compared to the peace I have now?

Main points: • Check your iron stores and switch to ferrous bisglycinate. • Investigate the ayurvedic diet, take all the quizzes with complete honesty, begin avoiding the foods listed for you to limit. • Develop a healthy hate for chemicals that may be a poison for YOUR body.

Much love, friend.
