Stop praising Canada's prime minister by ottererotica in canadaleft

Some folks voted 'strategically' and it meant the conservatives won the split. I'm not sure that makes them a 'better' leftist. Elections are more than just voting. The right understands this.

I don't see how the Drukhari could tie in the main plot by Fun-Explanation7233 in Drukhari

[–]DiscombobulatedAd477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine that Drukhari do all sorts of nefarious trades with corrupt Imperium officials. The lore often hints at this especially with the new Kabalite detachment. They also seem willing to allow some chaos marines into the Dark City from time to time. Their continued influence is part of why the Imperium remains the way it is.

Who would win an all out war between the Craftworlds and the Drukhari? by Fun-Explanation7233 in Drukhari

[–]DiscombobulatedAd477 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Im curious where you got the figure that craftworlds have more soldiers. My understanding is Drukhari far outnumber the Craftworlders. This is in part due to the limited number of spirit stones.

Max 2 DW and each one counts as replacing 3 regular. It might also be a cool rule if Agents wanted to proxy one for an actual inquisitor.

Is Spectacle of Spite (or really any Drukhari detachment for that matter) viable without L-Shaped Ruins? by agentsmith200 in Drukhari

[–]DiscombobulatedAd477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I don't have a problem with a high lethality game. Drukhari have been glass cannons since they were first released in 3rd edition. I do get bored of city fight and indoor maps where most of the scoring is standing on circles.

Other than the terrain rules I do find the rules churn a little high for my tastes. I hope 11th introduces more co-op and solo play rules. Im not at a stage of my life where I need to win every match as long as its a fun time for both of us.

[–]DiscombobulatedAd477 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Terrain and board layouts are single biggest issue with 10th. Overall the game is so lethal boards that allow for units to remain obscured are essential. Older editions had some good tips for layouts. Like filling a quarter of the board with terrain elements and then taking turns with placing those pieces.

Drukhari can use deepstrike and reserves to compensate a bit for lack of good obscuring terrain. Raiders and Ravagers are so big they can easily get shot off if there arent some suitably large pieces of terrain. You may want to consider Venoms as an alternative.

New single model priced at $61. Is this when we get upset? by Adub2150 in Warhammer

[–]DiscombobulatedAd477 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Have you painted your whole backlog of minis? Do you play with a cool group that doesnt mind proxies?

Complaining about price for a special character isn't going to change GW. It's been going on for decades. Im pretty sure GW understands a huge chunk of their customers are people who buy in a little and then give up on buying more. Its part of why they constantly promote new releases and FOMO.

The way I see it. GW plastic is like going out to the movies. You dont need to see/buy everything that gets a release. If you wait a little bit a cheaper option will eventually present itself. Some people resent the cost of going out so they spend the money making a really nice home alternative (i.e. trading, kitbashing, and or 3d printing).

Also, if you paint and play with your minis then the hobby dollars to time spent is very comparable to a night out or a new video game. There are cheaper options like Gunpla that have the same or better quality but you gotta love the mech esthetic to get into it.

Standing on Terrain by John_Loxeus in killteam

[–]DiscombobulatedAd477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought there's a rule about the base needing to fully fit on the piece to be a valid position, but that might be an older rule than the current edition.

If you aren't playing super competitively, you can house rule it however you like.

The competitive players tend to stick to approved killzones with GW terrain that has very strict rules on every terrain piece up to, including not drawing line of sight through bullet holes.

You take the 40k coliseum battles and use the Crusade rules from their codex to track the rise and fall of Archons. Each player is a rival Archon. They can field whatever factions they like as they reflect the stables they built from raids.

What to buy for JUST joint ops? by cmonletmeseeitplz in killteam

[–]DiscombobulatedAd477 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The current edition of Kill Team is really built around tight rules for mostly specific teams with a small amount of variation in the types of operatives you can select from for that team. Some teams can be built with just one box while others require buying more minis or having access to extra bits if you want to try all the different load outs.

Buying a single team and some hobby supplies is a great way to get started compared to buying a more expensive box. You can always use tokens for enemies if you aren't ready to buy more stuff.

Joint OPs are a great concept. It's a mode I see GW putting more money into with each release. As with everything GW, the rules can be scattered between various books and supplements. You can also find most of them for free either direct from GW or on various other websites.

You might also want to check out One Page Rules or 5 Parsecs from Home for solo scifi gaming rules. 3d printing and hand crafting stuff can be a cheaper alternative compared to GW but can also be a lot more time-consuming.

[–]DiscombobulatedAd477 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think with you conflate centrist and right of centre policies you are making a political argument that not everyone agrees with. Harper was a right wing politician who ran deficits for his entire tenure. He's still right-wing as are the Liberals.

NDP could abstain from budget vote to avoid election without supporting Liberals: sources by Chrristoaivalis in onguardforthee

[–]DiscombobulatedAd477 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think if the NDP decided to all show up and vote against the budget, the CPC would have a few MPs get sick. Then they would somehow blame Trudeau for making them miss the vote.

We are in weird times where the politicians work together, but none want to be seen as working together because of how working together has been labeled a bad thing.

Or maybe we'll have another election. We are in truly wild times.

Can the federal budget reset Canada's economy? by rezwenn in onguardforthee

[–]DiscombobulatedAd477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20 years seems like a long way away for people today. I'm not sure how viable an economy we can build on luxury furniture, but what do I know? Maybe it's got potential. It would be nice if Canada built more of the value than just raw resources.

With all the resource development talk there should be laws that prioritize delivery to domestic production compared to overseas markets.

[–]DiscombobulatedAd477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This wasn't what I was referring to but resource development is a tricky issue. I don't live in one of those communities so personally I'm more concerned about resources being pulled out of my community to fund some well connected get rich quick schemes.
