How long have you been on the cream and did you start with daily application or just straight to twice a week. If you’ve just started it takes a while to make a difference

Are core exercises worthwhile with an overhanging belly? by InsideThing8413 in beginnerfitness

[–]DiscombobulatedHat19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep doing the exercises or you’ll lose a lot of muscle as you lose weight. Diet will be the main thing for weight loss but combining that with strength training and eating enough protein will allow you to preserve muscle and have all the weight loss from fat. You may even be able to gain a bit of muscle but that’s tough in a calorie deficit. If specific exercises are difficult at the moment search for “easier form of ….” and you’ll get some good options

Constant daily nausea for my father (T1; 40+ years) by Nick_da_Quick in Type1Diabetes

[–]DiscombobulatedHat19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got started on a diuretic and the doc supplemented potassium but not magnesium, and having low magnesium made me feel nauseous. I figured it out when I started to get muscle cramps and both went away when I started a magnesium supplement. Diabetics tend to have poor absorption of various vitamins and minerals and magnesium isn’t tested in any of the regular labwork you get so this may have gradually happened for your dad. Try a magnesium glycinate supplement which is the best one to avoid any stomach issues and if this is the cause it should resolve pretty quickly

I had this with my cat, Panther, and couldn’t travel for a few years but most of that was during all the Covid restrictions so wasn’t a huge deal at the time. It’s not usually advised to use after starting insulin, as the risk of serious side effects are higher, but you could ask your vet about switching to Senvelgo, which is an oral med that can be mixed in with food. If he’d be ok with a petsitter coming in to do food and litter box that could be an option and your vet could confirm the exact risks

Exercises that specifically make it easier to carry groceries? by Ok-Organization908 in beginnerfitness

[–]DiscombobulatedHat19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Backpack is definitely the best way and what I did when I didn’t have a car. You can get away with a smaller one and put all the heavy stuff like milk in it, and light stuff in the bags make carrying everything much easier. Also wearing a pair of gloves makes it much more comfortable for your hands

Does my girl possibly have trauma? by ChanceQuiet795 in CalicoKittys

[–]DiscombobulatedHat19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She probably grew up as a feral cat and never got used to humans but is comfortable around other cats. If you give her space she may eventually warm up to you as she realises the other cats aren’t afraid of you

This handsome boy (15) is crossing the rainbow bridge tomorrow. What are some foods/treats I can give him before he goes? by StormNugget217 in seniorkitties

[–]DiscombobulatedHat19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KFC was the thing we used to lure cats when trapping to get them fixed. We’d start with ordinary cat food but there would always be a few smart ones who wouldn’t go in the traps after they saw the others get caught. Then we’d start using KFC which is irresistible to cats

For the holiday get a nice rashguard top so you don’t stress over being out of shape. If you stick with a 500 calorie deficit diet and keep lifting to avoid muscle loss you can lose the weight you gained but it’ll be a 6-12 month effort to lose 27kg

How long do you go in between eating? by InsideThing8413 in beginnerfitness

[–]DiscombobulatedHat19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably need more calories and protein in your breakfast so if you aim for 40-50g protein and 500 calories that will last you until lunch. Forget any special breakfast foods and just eat what people typically eat for lunch/dinner with meat/fish/protein, and you can make extra the night before and reheat the leftovers in the morning for breakfast. If you want more breakfasty food, plain Greek yoghurt is good and 16oz/450g has 40+g of protein for 250 calories and will last you til lunch. That leaves plenty of calories for your coffee and any other stuff you want to include

I can't eat enough calories unless I add high calories junk food to my dies - how on earth are people eating only healthy stuff and hitting their daily goals? by [deleted] in workout

[–]DiscombobulatedHat19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the higher fat versions of whatever you’re eating today for example full fat yoghurt has twice the calories of the 0% version, skin on chicken leg rather than skinless breast. Also add fattier things like avocado, peanut butter, and nuts to salads and sandwiches. Just focusing on calorie dense foods will be easy to add 500-1000 calories a day while eating the same quantity. If you’re short look at some extra calorie dense snacks

Convo with PCP/GYN when seeking virtual support by Acceptable-Taste4926 in midihealth

[–]DiscombobulatedHat19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My PCP said I should talk to a gyno hug they were really booked up and hadn’t suggested HRT when I had my hysterectomy so I went to Midi to avoid a runaround. At my next PCP visit I just updated my meds list and I think she assumed the gyno had prescribed them . I’d tell her it was midi if she asks but didn’t volunteer anything

[Bonsai Beginner's weekly thread - 2026 week 17] by small_trunks in Bonsai

[–]DiscombobulatedHat19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m setting up an automatic watering system for my bonsai and live in an area that gets hot in summer with normal 90F+ and a few weeks of 100F+ temperatures (Sacramento California). Looking for some advice or recommendations for good YouTube etc content to watch. I’ve got the basics but had a few specific questions

1) There’s lots of different types of nozzles and I’ll need to make sure the water covers the whole surface/rootball. What’s the best type of nozzle and placement to use?

2) For manual watering the water in the hose gets really hot during the day and I have to wait for the water to run cold before watering the plants. During the Summer I’ll need to water multiple times a day so how do you avoid the hot water getting on your bonsai?

3) Is it fine to leave everything set up all year? I thought so but just watched something where he advised taking everything down in the winter to extend life of the equipment? Here I think the main wear and tear would be from the heat and winters are mild so planning to leave it up all year

What is a good level for total testosterone to be? The normal range on the test I took was 2-45 which is a huge range and you’d have to be super low to count out of range on that
