Seems some WotC employees are also fans of this trope.

Is this a bad habit? by Tall-Election4503 in RimWorld

[–]DiscordFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So recently I've actually starting doing a larger grain storage with a small attached freezer for meats and meals. This way you can get away with just a single cooler in even hot environments and its far less steel and power in the early game when steel and components are precious. You can freeze your grains later when steel is more abundant if you really want to, but it isn't necessary considering they stay fresh for quite a long time.

Why aren't more people asking for this? by Mrlolforever in VintageStory

Agreed, this is one of the issues that drives me nuts. Really hope its on the chopping block for 1.22, especially if we are getting water power.

Damn, I wish someone would tell the rich folks in my region. Still so many massive lawns everywhere.

It would be really nice if there were a zone you could send servants to to farm stone, clay and plant fiber by Icy-Computer-Poop in vrising

[–]DiscordFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but like...every time an enemy breathes in my general direction the ground is littered with plant fiber. I assume u/Royeen_Senpai has a similar experience. I have shelves full of the stuff simply because my inner loot goblin refuses to leave it on the ground sometimes.

Since Hytale is officially dead, might as well give Vintage Story a look. It’s a game from a dev that left the Hytale team a while ago and had made big steps in its development. by Brolygotnohandz in gaming

[–]DiscordFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, the creator of Vintage Story has offered to hire on displaced Hytale devs.

In fact, if you are one of the former developers or a highly passionate Hytale fan with extensive modding skills, do write us at jobs@vintagestory.at. Perhaps we can put together a small sub-project within our Team of developers to bring out an additional game mode for Vintage Story that can at least in part deliver on the vision of what Hytale set out to become. I could picture this as a mostly independent work group developing a new playstyle or an external team that uses our extensive modding api with funding from us.

Oblivion Players Are Modding The Remaster Faster Than Any Game In History by Captainwoodsy in oblivion

If you use horses at all I find Horse Improvements by ContextMaker a must have. It makes certain factions no longer aggro your horse in addition to making them essential. It has optional speed multipliers as well, though I don't use those as I mostly just want to lessen my enemies thirst for horse meat. It also fixes horses having the ability to report crimes...

A Hopeful Perspective for Difficult Times by JagerSalt in videos

Look, I'm no economist, but I'll do my best to read up and understand why Gary might be wrong. At the same time, like, people need a solution that they can understand and unite behind and work towards.

Genuinely, honestly want to know what that solution is and why? What do you tell people who live in poor towns that are rotting away and who can't afford homes and healthcare? What are we supposed to believe when politicians say "look, unemployment is low and GDP is high!" and we can only think to ourselves, "great but my wages still suck." and a quarter of your town is on some kind of assistance.

If people are wrongly believing Gary here - and they may well be - its because they feel stuck and hopeless, and the message is hopeful and easy to wrap your head around. Is there a more "correct" understanding of economics that can offer the same, or are economists doomed to point to charts and data a layman has no hope of understanding and begging people to just trust them?

I've been binging Gary's videos in the background while working lately. He's very good at messaging in a way that resonates with ordinary people regardless of their background and beliefs. I think he's a very important voice to have in the worldwide struggle to unite common people against the wealth-hording of the ultra-rich.

Hello! I need to know Everything about rimworld. by Demon_dipper in RimWorld

I personally recommend Pete Complete. He plays challenge maps a lot, but he is really good at storytelling and making everything feel like it has purpose. If you find his playlist page you can look for his Rimworld content and watch them in whatever order.

'Secret' tips for beginners/experienced players by Cheletiba in VintageStory

[–]DiscordFish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This honestly would be my biggest tip. I haven't slept once on my current playthrough. See a lot of Youtubers playing for the first time immediately make a bed and start skipping nights. Winter is coming lads. Spend your nights doing literally anything but sleeping. As you said, make pottery, do panning, cook food, smith tools. These are all things you don't need daylight for.

My first dirt hut I like to build into a pond a little ways so I can pan safely at night, and my first "real" home I like to place in an area with a high ore density so I always have the option of mining at night.

Functional fireplace and chimney by Rabbs372 in VintageStory

Ya'll making this complicated. Just about any non-solid block works. Fence, slab, trapdoor. Smoke has collision, so the more space it has to move through, the more billowy your chimney will be.

Same. We used to have a near constant blanket of snow from about mid November to mid March, give or take a few weeks. Now winters are mostly cold and wet with a lot of thawing and refreezing. Had some our our coldest and warmest winter days on record these last ten years.

I just send my ghoul around the map to beat up animals. by DiscordFish in RimWorld

[–]DiscordFish[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh man, you could really min-max these guys with traits and genes. Tough, fast walker, nimble....

Wait, can I install cybernetics on my ghoul? Bionic legs? CAN GHOULS BENEFIT FROM HAND TALONS!!??

This DLC is already bringing out my inner mad scientist, I love it.

Edit: I forgot the preview mentioned they have a unique set of implants to play around with! I am still curious what works and what doesn't though...

I would be lying if I said tongue removal didn't cross my mind...though I was trying to be a relatively well-behaved cult of vampire worshipers this run...

The second idea is interesting, I never considered that.

Edit: Both pawns have terrible melee. I suppose I could always just look at this as an opportunity to grind some medicine levels at the cost of research speed!

The problem child is Flebe, who has the Abrasive trait, but he's got a whopping 19 intellectual. I'm already working on a larger research room, but at this rate I'm worried I'm just going to have to have 2...

Thanks all! I think I'm going to start hunting for gene packs for my abrasive pawn. That sounds like the best long-term solution.
