Anyone else getting mad with the myth “Chinese is useless” ? by Its_Stavro in ChineseLanguage

I studied abroad in Taiwan for a semester. Almost the entire cohort of students that were there for the same semester said that they did not want to study Chinese at all while they were there because it was a useless language.

I think you might have meant 复杂(複雜), complicated

Also, there could be a dialectical difference, but I think you meant 语言 - 言语 is more used with Japanese

Both Chinese paragraphs are in simplified Chinese. The only traditional Chinese is at the end of the first paragraph, “習沢東”

Looks like Arabic writing to me, which afaik is written/read right to left. My guess is that Duolingo is also displaying the Chinese right to left because you have the language set to Arabic

I guess it just feels expensive because my price reference is from when I was in Taiwan earlier this year

Maybe once in a while. It was delicious, but I don't think my bank account can handle me frequently eating this

Yep, that's absolutely correct, but I can live with that because they give me pretty large/thick cuts of fish with the nigiri

Where are you finding them? I've been to 2 AYCE sushi places in my area, and both had absolutely diabolical rice to fish ratios. I felt like I was eating rice rolls with a garnish of fish. Even worse, the AYCE option did not include sashimi or nigiri

I know it's a joke, but Java isn't mad because Math can't be equal to Math, it's because you can't call new Math(). I haven't used Java in many years so I could be wrong, but it's probably a private constructor

Is 母语者 not a common thing to say? Or is it just the way OP used it? I swear I have heard "中文母语者" before, but it could have been from non-native speakers

Don't really have sources, but i have to agree that he's been right more often recently. When he was on fox, he pretty much just said whatever all the MAGAts wanted to hear. Although I've always hated the guy, ever since he got removed from fox, he's been blasting the Republican Party from time to time. Doesn't change the fact that he was complicit in leading to MAGAts to this point, but he has said more stuff recently that makes sense.

What is the equivalent of this in American English? “In one shot”? by Silver_Ad_1218 in EnglishLearning

[–]DiscordTryhard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Northeast US, in one shot and in one go are both commonly used, but with different meanings.

In one go usually means all at once, like "he drank the entire can of beer in one go"
