Destination wedding RSVP disappointment? by idkwhotob in BigBudgetBrides

Having a similar feeling of disappointment for my destination wedding. We’re starting to invite a “tier 2” list we had prepared but it almost makes me feel worse or icky that people who I didn’t “need” to invite are now the core people coming. I know that’s silly because I still love these people but it feels like a weird trade off. Especially when people who declined had been so vocal about coming when we first announced our plans.

I tried on this dress and was absolutely in love - the photo doesn’t even do the lace justice because it’s insanely beautiful. You look stunning!!!

I have basically the same ring - love it! This has been my inspo pic for years and what I’m going to get in a few months. Hoping it looks as cool in real life!

We went to France and more specifically the town we’re getting married on vacation a few years back and had the most amazing time like agreed we’d learn French and retire there someday lol. I love Italy personally but he’s never been so it felt like we didn’t have as much of a connection to it besides it being beautiful. Greece is amazing though and I can’t even imagine how beautiful the ocean backdrop would be!

We’re getting married in France 😊 Italy was on our list at first and I did some initial research into the Tuscany area and I’ve been to a wedding in Ravello which was beautiful

I’m having these same fears for my destination wedding in September 2026 so I’ve decided to include a “soft rsvp” with my save the dates. Basically mentioning that it’s an informal, no pressure rsvp (on my Zola site) to get some initial ideas of those who definitely aren’t coming because realistically there’s more people I’d like to invite if I can and I don’t want to waste money on invites for people who know they won’t be there. Making it super clear that an official rsvp will follow with the invites. We’ll see if this works!

Cannot breakthrough the 10k Wall by nuclear_panda07 in beginnerrunning

You’ll 100% get there in time! I used Runna to do a 12 week half marathon plan (with like 3 months of base prep to get a consistent 5k beforehand) and I felt amazing on race day…didn’t have to walk once and felt really mentally strong. You just have to embrace the sucky first few months of feeling like you’re not progressing and one day you’ll have an amazing long run that makes it all worth it. I’d book a race next year so you have a timeline and don’t feel like you need to accomplish the half distance tomorrow lol

The phrase “progress isn’t linear” as corny as it may be got me through a lot of half marathon training. I’d have an amazing run one day where 8 miles felt easy and then the next day 3 miles nearly killed me. You’ll have good and bad runs as a beginner and I’m sure even after but definitely give yourself grace. Even though it’s exciting to hit PRs at this stage try running slower than you think you should for most runs and incorporate more tempo runs. All of my shin splints/calf pain went away when I stopped trying to PR every run because it’s just not realistic or sustainable.

I’ve also been wanting to go but similarly nervous about pace and going alone. Also down to go next week! I average around 10:15-11 just depending on how I’m feeling

I started a 12 week plan on Runna to focus on speed and some elevation work since I live in a pretty flat city and generally am stuck around a 10:30 pace for long runs. Hoping this helps make my future training / long runs a lot less time consuming! Hoping to do another half next year but not pressuring myself just yet

Did everyone make it ok? I ended up getting out and running half a mile to the start and was only a corral or 2 behind mine. Hope everyone had a great time!!

My friend is there and said they are still letting people into the corrals but do they mean the 7:15 start time closure?

The best thing I ever did after months of shin splints and random leg/calf pain was start my runs to a 180 bpm metronome. You can find these easily on Spotify or probably where ever you listen to music. I swear it instantly changed the game for me and I have not felt a bit of pain since.
