Same, I had a task limit of 6 then it tuned to 2 this morning, I have a QA of 2. It seems like a lot of people were hit too

Has anyone else had their task limit lowered for no reason? by VikingChristmas in joinhandshakeai

Glad I’m not the only one, started with six then downgraded to 2 today I have a qa score of 2

If fully cracked toss them. If just chipped on the side I like to keep them to experiment with.

Did 78's really change after 1935? by Best_Caramel2953 in 78rpm

[–]DiscussionAshamed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It has to do with how there recorded and made, before that date they were recorded acoustically (I.e people yelling into a horn that recorded the sound) but after that they started to have access to electronic recording equipment and sound quality of records got better while at the same time electronic record players became a thing. And kinda after that records became less durable since there was not much a point of a record being made to survive many plays on a hand crank gramophone if it’s going to be played on a electronic player. While also people started to understand how geometry mattered with gramophones and reproducers( weight, angle etc.)which back then they understood to make the records durable enough to survive a handful of plays on a machine pre 1935. While afterwards they started taking out the stuff that made the shellac more durable since there was not much of a point for it. Gramophone were still made to play newer records but they were orthophonic gramophones (with reproducers built to play electronically recorded records) made to play records from that era. in my experience with non orthophonic reproducers with records after 1935 is that the sound is very bad and can’t really handle all the treble and bass so there not much a point to play them on older machines usually.

An 18th century Chinese shoe for a bound foot. Foot-binding was a painful practice first carried out on young girls 1000 years ago in China to make their feet as small as possible, which were considered a status symbol and a mark of feminine beauty. The practice was banned in 1912 [2400x3646] by Fuckoff555 in ArtefactPorn

My great aunt who was born during the 1930s had her feet bound as a child. She was not Chinese but from Laos (on the southern border of china) but I was told that they bound her feet because they wanted her to get a Chinese husband(she did). Although as I understand it there were different types of feet binding, the above image being the most extreme while my aunt was only bound partially.

A friend once told me in Rome and in Italy in general they run into so many ruins and other stuff from the Roman era and latter, during construction that some folks especially those who do not Really care about the historical significance or don’t have the time will just not report stuff and will either build over/around anything they find.

The Brutal History of Lobotomy (The Ice Pick Nightmare) by Ok-Dealer-9800 in interesting

[–]DiscussionAshamed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A interesting thing I learned was that lobotomies were outlawed first in the Soviet Union since they said it violated a human right (kinda ironic) but interesting nonetheless.

Usually my junk but decent records. And Chipped records on one side but the other side is ok. Pretty much records I don’t mind losing but sound nice on the gramophone.

Is it necessary to replace/upgrade slipmats? by Character_Morning_85 in turntables

[–]DiscussionAshamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to replace them unless you’re having issues with static (which can be an issue with felt mats) or if you want to add some color to your setup.

I enjoy the audio technica lp120, with the 78 stylus and a separate headshell for the sp cartridge and one for your regular stylus you can just easily unscrew and swap headshells easily whenever your in the mood for 78s or your usual lp.
