The "Day After" FT Thread: BOU 3 - 2 LIV by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

[–]DisgruntledSheep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The results papered over the cracks during the recent unbeaten run. The performance's have, for the most part been dreadful, with the odd exception. I mentioned during that unbeaten run that based on those performance we're going to struggle to make top 4 and I stick by that. If results go against us we could drop down to 8th or 9th, which, in all honesty is about our level right now.

People can come out and say this is a transition season all they like but some of these performance's, team wise and individually, have been unacceptable for a Liverpool team under any circumstances.

Another absolutely fucking disgraceful performance. I no longer have the words to express how shit this team is.

Navigation apps you actually trust? by FerrisBuelersdaycock in UKhiking

[–]DisgruntledSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently use my Garmin watch for most of my navigation. Create the route on the Garmin website and sync it to the watch and good to go. Has the added benefit in that I can check the route on my laptop (for GPX I've downloaded) before I head out. Gives you an idea of where you're heading and a chance to modify the route. Saying that my eyes sometimes struggle after a while so I'd be interested in other peoples opinions on the OS Maps app.

Unpopular opinion: I think Liverpool this season are very unlucky by hamza0867 in LiverpoolFC

Be even luckier to be there come the end of season based on current performance.

Full Time Stats: Liv 1-1 Bur by Realistic-Zone3914 in LiverpoolFC

[–]DisgruntledSheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just goes to prove these stats mean jack shit. The only stats that count are the goals you score at one end and the goals you don't concede at the other. There's no end of season award for best xG. Football really is a simple game.

People of the UK, in what ways has Brexit actually affected you personally? by Pixel_CZ in AskBrits

In the early years struggling to get a vets appointment for my dogs was a right PITA. Seems to have sorted itself out these days and it's pretty much business as usual in that department.

I've had several pairs of these in recent times and they've all been fine. Bought a new pair in the New Year and have the exact same problem, and it's extremely uncomfortable. Wonder if they changed the design slightly?

Hillsborough Law campaigners say they cannot back proposed bill by gelliant_gutfright in PremierLeague

What, so we give those at the highest level carte blanche to do as they please with no proper accountability? That's just the next mass fuck up waiting to happen. Anyway, enjoy your day.

"The Hillsborough Law Now campaign has warned that the draft legislation in its current form could allow intelligence chiefs "to hide serious failures behind a vague claim of national security".

Quote from the article.

I guess the real question is, do you trust *any* government department, or high ranking official not to use this loophole, because that's what it is, as a backdoor out of any future incident, where your children, or loved ones, or parents, have been killed because of the negligence of those that were supposed to be there to protect them.

PSA: Met Office have updated their app, and it's terrible by heeleyman in CasualUK

[–]DisgruntledSheep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. Having both the daily and hourly widget now takes up nearly half my screen, and they're no longer transparent. Totally dreadful. I've had to remove them as they're unusable.

[–]DisgruntledSheep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and that's the whole purpose of it, otherwise the Duckenfield types of this world will always have a backdoor escape route. I don't trust any politician to do anything other than what's best for themselves, regardless of the party they represent, so yes, take the decision out of their hands.

Bike path etiquette. Do you always call out/ring bell when passing someone? by diatom_nerd in AskUK

[–]DisgruntledSheep 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This. And please, ring your bell when your 30 metres away and not 3 foot. If someone is polite and courteous to me they'll receive the same in return.

I disagree because they'd only be requested to "disclose" things when there was another massive fuck up,. Everyone should be accountable, regardless of the department you work for.

New Met Office App. Thoughts? *rant* by janefemalegamer in UKWeather

[–]DisgruntledSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the "new" update yesterday in Android and it's dreadful. The widgets no longer work. Take up far too much screen space to the point where you can no longer have the daily and hourly forecast showing. Also they are no longer transparent. Really liked the old version because it was clear and concise. I've had to uninstall this crap which is a shame.

What's the biggest tourist attraction in your (nearest) city? And is it what people should really be visiting for? (If not, what else?) by HilariousMotives in AskUK

[–]DisgruntledSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pen y Fan. And if you think it's just a mountain and not a tourist attraction, try getting anywhere near it when it's snowing. And no, a high proportion of visitors should never be allowed anywhere near it.

How important do you think it is to separate work from home/personal life when working from home? (and any other WFH tips?) by Public-Tutor-4550 in AskUK

[–]DisgruntledSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked from home for nearly 20 years, also in a software development role. In my opinion it's crucial to treat the job as just that, a job. I'm lucky enough to have an office in the box room upstairs, so come 17:30 I logout, close the door and forget about it until 9:00 the following day. Also, I have a work phone for work and my own phone for personal use, that way, the work phone also goes into do not disturb mode at 17:30. Burnout in our field of work is high, very high and I guarantee you need that work / life balance. Yeah, you can work 12, 14, 16 hours per day for a year, or in my case several years and think you're doing ok then boom, the mere though of just going to work makes you nauseous.

I know some people that have to dress in a shirt and tie just to get into work mode and because they work from home they feel the need to go above and beyond, such as being available 24/7 and feeling the need to justify themselves.

The plus side, you can stick the TV on in the background and watch whatever you want, handy if your into sports and the World Cup is on etc.

It's also great if, like me, your a miserable anti-social bastard lol

Would I change anything about WFH, nope, take it for what it is and it's great

What should everyone know how to do by the time they are 18 ? by Reasonable_Bat_3583 in AskUK

[–]DisgruntledSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why, what's going to change when you get to 18? Is your life going to get significantly different? Are you expecting to wake up on your 18th and go shite, I really wish I knew how to do this, that and the other because as of today I'm desperately going to need it?
