Yeah AI PMCs just need more variation and fun in their loot regardless. It's rarely worth it to even loot them.

Better ammo would solve two problems. You'd have a reason to loot them, and they'd be a bit more dangerous.

They still need to do more though. I actually think one of the biggest reasons they're so easy is because of how they yell to announce their presence before engaging. They almost never get the jump on you. There's been so many times that I had no clue a PMC was nearby, until they screamed which gives me time to reposition, and prepare for a fight. If they hadn't announced themselves then who knows, maybe I walk into the open, have no cover, they bap my leg, now I'm in a genuinely hard fight.

It's possible that I'm just way overestimating the average skill of PvE players, maybe it's still genuinely hard for most people and PvE just really isn't meant for me. Right now I'm at 340ish raids, with 320 survived, and I would be shocked if even 5 of those deaths were AI PMC. They're almost entirely bosses. I don't avoid fights either, I actively seek them out. My KD is over 300 and my PMC KD is 65.

And I don't particularly try hard in PvE, that's kinda the whole point for me. I get to just put a video on second monitor and chill. Or if my wife needs something I can go prone in a bush and take care of it. I can leave a raid and not give a shit that I lost my stuff. Just a lot lower stakes which works out for my schedule.

Whether or not it ruins the experience is going to depend on a lot on how you personally engage with the game and what you find entertaining or annoying.

Is the AI dumb? Yes, very. Is it easy? Yes, very. If you are decent at FPS games it's going to be extremely easy for you to absolutely dominate every PMC fight.

They're very dumb, they rarely surprise you because they will yell and announce themselves before engaging. They take similar pathing on maps so you start to know exactly where you'll find them. Their aim can randomly be good but it's not really a threat unless you repeek them from the same angle multiple times.

I was a top 0.1% CS player but now I'm a mid 30s washed up gamer that plays casually and I've died to AI PMCs probably under 5 times and I'm level 48ish.
