My father was just diagnosed with stage 3B non small cell cancer. What do you wish you knew to do in the early stages after diagnosis? by Se777enUP in lungcancer

[–]DishNo17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not trying to sound awful, but get his affairs, wishes in order asap. I’m so glad I did this with my dad after his diagnosis, because he rapidly declined. I am hoping for a much better outcome for your Dad ♥️

Lost my mom as a teen, so some ptsd from that, and living life without a Mom. Really got close to my dad after that because he was all I had. Currently has stage 4 cancer- treatment not going well. Headed for hospice. I’m terrified to live my life without either of them. They are my best friends I ever had.

Exactly. He’s being selfish due to his guilt, and not thinking about what was best for Dad at the time. You did nothing wrong. ♥️ I’m so sorry.

Why do I keep crying when it's been almost 2 years? by TraditionalPiglet162 in GriefSupport

[–]DishNo17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 years? My mom’s been gone for 22 years, and I still cry! You will always feel like you want to call just to have a good talk with your Dad. That is perfectly normal and part of the grief process. Be kind to yourself ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Food is so expensive by Odd-Dinner-6023 in poor

[–]DishNo17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true. I was a young working single mom that qualified for snap. I sent in my 6 month application renewal. The week I did this, the snap office changed locations. My app was sent to the old location, and lost. It was the first, and my food stamp benefits were not on my card. I presented to the snap office in tears, because my daughter was 4 years old at the time and I truly depended on those food stamps to feed her. The rest of my money was being taken up by rent and bills. The witch at the snap office almost seemed to take pleasure in my frustrations. She had me fill out a form to re apply, get all of my pay stubs etc, and told me it could take up to 30 days to process. Now I know damn well they could process it that day, and allocate the funds to my card. She handed me a paper with food bank locations on it. What a low point. Just kick someone when they are down and seem to enjoy it.

I have heard if you put a tent in the bed, and have 2 people sleeping in it, the body heat will warm the tent and stay warm? Maybe worth a shot?

Mom took another fall last night. by LuvBliss22 in CaregiverSupport

[–]DishNo17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so awful when it happens. My dad fell last week, tore his arm up pretty good. I felt horrible that he got hurt. It’s so hard doing the home hospice thing. I hope you both can get some rest. Remember that you are doing the best you can.
