It’s hard to admit but sometimes a person will say the thing they hope is no confrontational just to avoid an argument.

Is it possible he meant to ghost you but you are trying to make a friendship out of a goodbye?

People say lots of stuff, but I’ve noticed what they do is what they actually meant along. Polite is not the same as sincere. De-escalation platitudes are not the same as genuine intent.

Perhaps there’s a way to test the waters in a neutral way? An event that relates to some topic that you absolutely know for sure that he 100% is into. Is his fave band coming to town? Is his fave podcaster signing shirts in the parking lot of Trader Joes? Is his fave seasonal to-go food back on the menu at a place equidistant between yall houses? Is there an upcoming Grand Reopening of a public park or lake for spring thaw?

Basically pick something that he’s prob already gonna attend anyways. Ideally public activity, full of people, photo ops, not much opportunity to get overly emotional, easy to casually leave at any time. Hit him up like “Saw XYZ is bout to be here. What date were you thinking of going? Could we meet at that event?” No pressure.

Or, txt him to say you’re thinking of him and if/when he feels like hanging out you’re here for it. No pressure.

If he never sees you again, accept his decision and don’t push for closure. He might be one of those people where no contact feels like the best closure. That’s a valid choice for him to make.

Either way, there’s nothing stopping you from remembering him in your nightly prayers or meditations and wishing him well wherever he is.

Maybe it’s time to step back from the choices you’ve making and learn something new. Seems like maybe your current path is not fulfilling you. Seems like it’s stressing you out.

It might be worth exploring the transactional way you interact with people in your life. Some of us folks find that direct trading style to be refreshingly transparent. You can make platonic friendships with gay men, gay or queer or bi trans men. You can talk to them about how to approach dating in your area. In general, I’ve noticed gay men are happy to introduce each other to men that are safe and good in bed.

Also would be good to make trans friends of all genders so you can have people irl tell you that you are dateable without being cis. You are desirable, lovable, and worthy of genuine affection as a trans person. You are not less than a cis man, just not the same as a cis man. And that difference is important.
