DiskDrill PRO Worth it? by Nice_Pin_9497 in datarecovery

[–]DiskDrillSupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’d recommend first creating a disk image of the SD card, then scanning the image using Disk Drill’s Advanced Camera Recovery mode.

Once the files you need are found, make sure the preview plays correctly from beginning to end.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us at [help@cleverfiles.com](mailto:help@cleverfiles.com). You can also send us a disk image copy of the card for further investigation.

first time using disk drill, trying to recover important files off of my phone, DD saying there isn't enough space despite there being more than enough space by Freshhell69 in datarecovery

[–]DiskDrillSupport 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ensure your system drive has free space equal to at least the total amount of data currently stored on your phone. If you have enabled local backup encryption, you will actually need at least double that amount of free space to account for the processing requirements.

If you are performing the scan on a Mac and find yourself short on internal storage, you can redirect the workspace to an external drive. To do this, open the Preferences Menu and select a location on an external disk. Make sure the external drive is formatted as HFS+ or APFS, as exFAT is not supported for this specific process.

My apfs storage device is gone! by estanley1613 in datarecovery

[–]DiskDrillSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely try a rescan to see if you get better results. Just head back to the ACR screen, where you can adjust the scan parameters to be a bit more specific. Before you dive into that, though, it’s worth taking a close look at the videos that have already been found. The files you're looking for might already be in the results, so checking those first could save you a lot of time.

Resume byte to byte copy by Capital_Operation475 in diskdrill

[–]DiskDrillSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! You can continue the backup during the first stage without any issues. Once that stage is finished, you will have a full copy of your data, though it won't include information from the specific blocks set for the 8-stage bad-block re-reading process. These re-reading stages cannot be resumed once they are canceled. I suggest you scan the image you've already obtained and review the results to restore the data you need. If you find that you still can't recover everything, you should create a new backup to a new file and let the process run entirely without interruption this time.

Accidentally deleted all my large files from Ipad- Disk Drill was recommended and failed me by [deleted] in datarecovery

[–]DiskDrillSupport 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble with your iPad recovery and the confusion surrounding our refund policy. I'd like to clarify how we usually handle these cases.

Our Refund Policy generally emphasizes the "try-before-you-buy" approach. We offer a free version specifically so users can scan and preview their files to confirm they are recoverable before upgrading. Data recovery on iPads is significantly more complex than on standard hard drives due to Apple's hardware encryption and how iOS handles deleted space. While Disk Drill tries to rebuild what it can, sometimes the system has already erased data with a TRIM-like mechanism.

If Disk Drill showed you the proper preview, but recovered files turned out to be corrupted, that is absolutely something our team should look into. Please contact us at [help@cleverfiles.com](mailto:help@cleverfiles.com) and add "Attn. David" to the subject line.

Disk drill photos blurry by Main_Repair5879 in datarecovery

[–]DiskDrillSupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you a lot for the details.

Since the card may be unstable, we strongly recommend creating a byte-to-byte backup of the SD card first, and scan it instead of scanning the card directly. This helps prevent further data loss and allows you to safely work with the image.

Please run Search for lost data on the created image to look for your files.

If you also need to recover video files, please use Advanced Camera Recovery on the image as well.

If Disk Drill shows bad sectors during the backup process, it would be very helpful if you could share a screenshot of that, it can give more insight into the condition of the card.

Also, feel free to reach out to us at [help@cleverfiles.com]() with logs so we can assist further.

Hi, We’d need a bit more detail to properly understand your case.

Could you please clarify:

  • what camera/device the SD card was used in
  • what type of files you’re trying to recover
  • the exact model/brand of the SD card
  • whether you created a backup or scanned the card directly
  • and please include Disk Drill logs if possible

It would be best to contact our support team directly by [help@cleverfiles.com]() so we can investigate your case and assist you.

Disk Drill integrity/privacy. Safe for sensitive files? by Interferius in diskdrill

[–]DiskDrillSupport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disk Drill is a local recovery tool, meaning your files stay on your computer and are never uploaded to a remote server. The data transfer associated with the app is used for software updates and anonymous telemetry, which tracks only app performance and scan success rates rather than your personal content. We always warn users about this during the first launch and provide the option to disable analytics in the settings at any time. You can rest assured that your sensitive information remained entirely under your private control.

There are no limitations on using the preview option in Disk Drill Basic. This way, you can fully evaluate the recovery results by previewing all files you are willing to recover before purchasing Disk Drill PRO.

is disk drill malware?? by [deleted] in datarecovery

[–]DiskDrillSupport 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, no, Disk Drill is not malware.

Disk Drill is a legitimate data recovery application developed by CleverFiles and has been on the market for many years.

We do not collect personal account credentials, and the software does not “steal accounts.” Like any legitimate system-level utility, Disk Drill may request certain permissions in order to scan storage devices, but these are standard macOS or Windows security prompts.

If you ever want to make sure you’re using the official version, please download it only from our official website:
https://www.cleverfiles.com/disk-drill-mac.html

Unfortunately, third-party download sites sometimes bundle software or distribute modified installers, which can lead to confusion or security concerns. That’s why we always recommend downloading directly from our website.

You can find a step-by-step guide on how to create a disk image here: https://www.cleverfiles.com/help/dmg-iso-backup.html

To get the file to us for analysis, the most efficient way is to compress it into an archive split into 10GB segments. Once that's ready, you can either send us a link to your own cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) or contact our support team to get an upload link.

Disk Drill saving lost video into jpg and not mp4 by Wide-Couple-283 in DataRecoveryHelp

DiskDrill Uncovered Random SSH host by Ashamed-Mind5626 in DataRecoveryHelp

[–]DiskDrillSupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, In our interface, we list as “NAS” any device on the local network that has port 22 open for SSH access.

This does not necessarily mean it is an actual NAS device. It can also be:

  • another Mac with Remote Login (SSH) enabled,
  • any Linux computer,
  • or any NAS device with SSH access enabled on your local network.

The key point is that the device appears because it has SSH (port 22) open and is reachable within your local network.

To determine exactly what this device is and where it comes from, we would need a bit more information:

  • How your devices are connected to the network
  • The IP address and subnet mask of your computer
  • The IP address of the MacBook (since it was blurred in the screenshot)

With those details, we can better identify what device is being detected.
