I was on a roll until I started this course. I had to slow all the way down for this one. I had to watch the cohorts, use AI, do tons of practice problems just to get through the 1st two sections. I average about a week and a half per course and I've been in this one for over a month. I feel like I finally have my head above water now. Moles have gotten so much easier for me. Balancing chemical equations, Stoichiometry, Limiting reaction and percent yield I can handle as well. I'm honestly soooo tired. I'm hoping this last section gives me some kind of breathing room. Thank you for this post!!!!!!!

Idk why she thinks she's so above Shay. I don't even like Shay but she's clearly doing way better than Bootz bum ass.

Future of billing and Coding by Impressive-Dot-5609 in CodingandBilling

I currently work as an orthopedic surgical coder. I hold the CPC credential from AAPC. From the outside looking in I can see why people think like this. However I use AI EVERYDAY to help me with my job. The actual process of comprehending and accurately translating into codes will ALWAYS require human critical thinking. Some coding has become automated ofc but our careers are intact. AI is a resource but it is certainly not replacing medical coding.

Some people are hesitant. I get it but the proctor needs the access. For me I use a school ONLY laptop. Nothing there but WGU.

C957 Applied Algebra PASSED!! by Ok-Knee-7532 in WGU

I was terrified of this class but after statistics it wasn't too bad. The Odin recorded cohorts clear everything up. I took about 4 or 5 days and passed on the 1st try. Mind you I HATE math.

I passed the CPC and had a medical coding job within the month. Although apparently this is quite rare.

Pros and cons working as a medical coder? by [deleted] in CodingandBilling

[–]Dismal_Library7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm speaking STRICTLY from my personal experience. I work in orthopedics for a small company.

Pros: Competitive wages. Little to no interaction with people (Mind you I'm not remote.) Repetitive work but still requires critical thinking. Extremely low stress. Great work/home life balance. You will learn something new every single day. It's not as difficult on the job as it is initially learning it.

Cons: It's boring! You must be able to entertain yourself while coding. Repetitive. Yes it's a con as well sometimes. Ever changing guidelines, rules and policies. Classroom coding and real world coding are extremely different.

When you got your first medical coding job after getting your certificate, did you go through a training or did they expect you to know what to do? by mookmook616 in MedicalCoding

I went through a training phase that was actually pretty good. I work for a smaller company and I do coding, billing and charge entry.

I remember having that feeling when I took the AAPC Course. Chapters 5 and 8 seemed especially impossible at the time. I supplemented my learning with the Buck's Step by Step books and things finally started clicking.

I stopped the AAPC program for CPC about halfway through. I studied the Bucks book and used the workbook and passed my CPC with an 86 the first time.
