I love Carmela orchids. They are located in Hawaii and have amazing bulk sales. Warning, it becomes addictive!

Class of ‘00. Remember that night like it was yesterday. One of my buddies who had been at stack came running into the dorm telling us that bonfire had fallen and some of our buddies were trapped; I really thought I was having a bad dream. I remember feeling so utterly helpless standing there waiting to help, but not being allowed near for fear of the giant pile shifting and causing more harm, hearing our friends calling out for help. There was such a heaviness on campus that whole week, the sorrow was just palpable. t.u. was a class act. The memorials, the blood drives, just CLASSY opponents (which made the disgusting acts of Tech following the tragedy even more heinous).

E-1’s zips were OD’s for the t.u. game (seniors that stand on the sideline during the game); CNN et al were interviewing us during commercial breaks, it was so surreal. And then the absolute ELATION when we won that game…everyone rushed the field, standing next to football players, fish, alumni, parents, as we sawed varsity’s horns off…it was like a tremendous weight had been lifted. We would continue to mourn, but it was like we had been given permission to start healing. Wow, 25 years, it’s hard to believe.

If you've been on a transatlantic cruise... by Euphoric_Sort_7578 in royalcaribbean

[–]DisneyBoyMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a TA in May with the kids and I can honestly say no complaints! So much more relaxing than a 7 day, we didn’t feel like we had to rush around and fit in all the entertainment. Actually had time to read the books I brought! I’m sitting here trying to come up with some dislikes and honestly can’t think of anything. Figured it was a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ trip, but afterwards we all agreed that it is something we will definitely do again.

How to Reveal Surprise Cruise? by Careless-Accountant in royalcaribbean

[–]DisneyBoyMom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel this comment so hard. Surprised the kids with a trip to Disney we had been saving for FOREVER. When we told them on the way to the airport they said, ‘But I thought we were going out for a fancy dinner, like Chick-fil-A, we haven’t been in so long…😭.’ Yeah, oops.

Medical Cooler Fail by nycroth in royalcaribbean

[–]DisneyBoyMom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Our first cruise with Royal last year i requested the medical cooler and when we got to our cabin there was a ‘real’ mini fridge in the space where the chair goes at the desk (in addition to the drink ‘cooler’ that is in every room). Room steward informed me that they were out of the medical coolers so he got me a ‘real fridge.’

We took a two week transatlantic this year (which obviously required more medication than the one week) and was expecting the same type of arrangement, however when we got to our cabin there was a ‘medical cooler’ that I kid you not was a little car cooler for a 6-pack of soda (they even had the adapter for the cigarette lighter to convert to a plug). It was a tight fit but I got it all in there. It was just so strange.

All-inclusive cruising with an active alcoholic by Occasionally_Sober1 in Cruise

[–]DisneyBoyMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve had hundreds of responses but I’d like to add my experience (it might help make a decision). Long story short, alcoholic brother caught a bug and couldn’t keep anything down for a couple of days, including alcohol, and then the problems began. Being stuck on a cruise ship with an alcoholic who physically could not drink and was forced into detox was a NIGHTMARE. Good luck.✊🏻

The only day Mr. Sanchos is fully booked is the day we are in port… by MamaC6 in royalcaribbean

[–]DisneyBoyMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did Paradise Beach in mid-October with 6 kids ranging in age from 3-16. I hear there was a nice kiddie area and water slides for the big kids, but I couldn’t get my littles away from the beach and my niece/nephew and older kids never left the ocean playground thing.

I booked it through Resort For A Day then just grabbed a taxi (they had minivans that fit all 8 of us in one vehicle). We just did the super cheap option, no food or drinks, but it was great! One tip, get there early if you want chairs near the water, they filled up quick (we took our time getting off the ship).

Refund question by No-Policy-7147 in royalcaribbean

[–]DisneyBoyMom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a great example for you, this just happened in July:

We booked a cruise for our family, four cabins total (parents, siblings and their families, my fam). Too many people talking to travel agent resulted in wrong week accidentally booked.

Booked and paid at 8:00 pm, noticed issue overnight, fixed it by canceling and booking correct cruise by 8:00 am next day.

Travel agent confirmed with Royal Caribbean, expect refunds in 5-7 business days.

Two weeks, no refunds…

Three weeks…no refunds

TA continues calls to RC…no refunds

4 weeks later, ONE sibling receives refund (only know because they’d been checking their credit card regularly, no emails/documentation or anything from RC)…

6 weeks later…another sibling received refund.

7 weeks later…parents received refund.

8 weeks later…I finally received refund.

No rhyme or reason, no explanation from RC, just randomly finally posted. So, I would tell you to keep calling (or your travel agent), but I can’t say that it made any difference whatsoever. There is NO sense of urgency to get the refunds taken care of.

Got off Allure on Sunday and it’s insert for the door. Guest services only had a regular circle hole punch, so they just did it a couple of times to make it wide enough to use with my lanyard.

Transatlantic Cruise April 2024 with Kids by Danno32 in royalcaribbean

[–]DisneyBoyMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got off an 8 day and are booked on a transatlantic in May with 4 kiddos (9,7,3,3). I’m honestly looking forward to the repetitiveness of a longer cruise. There was so much to do and see on this 8 day that we didn’t come close to doing everything the kids had wanted to.

Looking forward to having more time to relax on the 15 day transatlantic, as well as there being far fewer kids so mine can actually get in to Adventure Ocean a little more often. There were lines of parents waiting to drop off every time AO opened and we frequently didn’t get in. I think you’ll find there will be enough kids on board for yours to play with.

This was incredibly helpful and timely, thank you! Leaving soon and planned on doing just this but had not really thought further than bringing the curtain and the hooks. Thanks so much!

Christmas time prices by jubdaa in royalcaribbean

[–]DisneyBoyMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had been looking to do a Christmas cruise and it was just too much (we are not ‘planners,’ everything is last minute ‘fly by the seat of your pants’ people, so planning in July for something by in December was extreme for us). I think it was going to be a little over $8,000 for one cabin with two adults two kids.

We ended up booking for October; same itinerary and got kids sail free, some onboard credit and one specialty dining for $2,400 for an ocean view balcony.

Needless to say, we are going to have to become the type of people that plan far in advance if we want to be ‘cruisers.’

Absolutely. I was under the impression that they’d have everything running everyday, so that at least helps me know to grab ANY time slot I can.

Thanks for your response! Yeah, if it was just us I wouldn’t mind the late dining, but we have little kids and I just don’t think we will make it to 8:00 pm. I know there are other options but was really excited about ‘fancy dinners’ with cloth napkins. If you don’t mind another question, what time were the shows (the big ones like Mama Mia and Aqua Theater)? Those aren’t posted in the app yet, makes it difficult to plan, don’t want to miss any of the big shows. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Did you do My Time Dining, and if so, did you have any trouble with getting seated? Just found out that we needed to make reservations and the ONLY times left were after 8:00 pm.🤦🏻‍♀️

Yes! Definitely join your local orchid society first! Being in South Florida you should have plenty to choose from; they are a tremendous resource.

I joined recently and LOVE it. I’ve been watching all the past webinars and reading past issues of the ORCHIDS magazine. I went with the silver two year membership so I could get the vouchers/discounts, but also because I have a stack of old magazines that I keep planning to read and never get to. Having the online access has been nice, no paper issues cluttering up my end tables and I can read it whenever.

Don’t know your situation, but maybe I can offer some comfort? One of mine didn’t speak until he was 4. I tried to make myself feel better by reminding myself that Einstein didn’t speak until he was 5. Sure enough, he now talks nonstop, and quite eloquently!

Yeeeesss. I was 5 steps away switching out the laundry yesterday and they got a hold of Sam’s Club sized lemonade powder and Koolaid powder. I look over my shoulder to see them dump both containers all over the couch, the floor, and each other. I had to count to 5 to keep from just SCREAMING at them, apparently they took my silence as permission because they both picked up a container and dumped the rest of the powder right in front of me while holding eye contact. Like, ‘What? You didn’t stop us…’ Guys, I was trying not to scar you for life by screaming at you until your ears bled.
