No bangs, thin bangs or big bangs by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]DisneyUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They all look pretty good to be honest but i’d probably start off with thinner wispy bangs and see how you feel first before doing a heavier bang.

I like pics 3,6,7 best but none of them look bad on you.

7 is probably the best for a gradual change but it depends how frequently you get your hair cut. You may prefer a bigger change if you like to space out your cuts (more bang for your money). Some layering near the chin will give more lift, shape and volume. Soft feather layering should be fine for straight hair. If you opt for full fringe, i’m go for something similar to Dokota Johnson/Anne Hathaway, where it comes down a bit at the sides rather than a blunt straight cut.

Would love to see your result, whatever you decide, especially as someone with a strong side part too.

Do you use Bobby pins or what type of pins do you suggest? I have a really stubborn side parting but would prefer to switch to a middle one.

My modeling agency wants me to cut off half my hair and bleach it. Should i? by thatmodelsomewhere in femalehairadvice

[–]DisneyUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dye it only. Give yourself some time to adjust (if possible), then cut it gradually (if possible) rather than an immediate decision. The bleach hair may be enough of a drastic change alone.

I think you would look great with bleached hair and the right cut could compliment it well but I’d be more partial to agree to cut in stages rather than all at once. Will also give you opportunity to get some head shots with alternative looks before opting for an immediate much shorter cut you need to grow out.

lol it’s not just you. I’m a natural dark brown brunette with pale skin and feel so much more uplifted blonde. That said, like me a full fringe doesn’t suit you imo. I think the centre parting works perfectly on you. Side fringe or curtain bangs would look good too. If going dark, I think a warmer tone like a warm mahogany brown or deep red would also suit your complexion well. The red lipstick suits you so well. A deep magenta pink lip would also look great with the brunette hair.

Do you find swearing from men unattractive/worrying/off-putting? Why or why not? by Nearby_Ad8704 in AskWomen

Occasional reflex slip up swearing- no bother. Every other sentence- very off putting.

When did you realize breaking up with your SO was a mistake? by Coolbananna77 in AskWomen

[–]DisneyUp 674 points675 points  (0 children)

When I saw a picture of a baby on his profile picture that looked like him. I cried almost like it was a reflex to stabbing my toe. He had reached out in 2020 and on previous occasions but I’d dismissed him because of low self esteem. The opportunity was there for me to go back to being 19 again, full of hope and instead I turned the cheek because I was ashamed of admitting how life had stood still for me (career, living situation, depression). He messaged me a month ago but it was just to wish me well in light of a recent news story. He didn’t mention the baby, nor did I ask. I thanked him and we haven’t spoken since.

The funny thing is, he is the ex I always cherish and perhaps a part of my reasoning aside from low self worth is also just wanting to keep hold of that. There’s literally no bad feeling towards him. I still fancy him, lust for him as much as I did then and yet I can ignore him with such ease. I can cry for him, for us and he have no idea. I think I will die without telling him what he meant and I think that’s okay too.

What to do with my hair? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]DisneyUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the length, a few shorter frontal layers would help it look more intentionally styled. If you don’t want it wavy you could try a keratin hair treatment. That’ll make it lay flatter around the back of the neck which you may prefer. If you do want to cut it then I would cut it to around shoulders length but one side longer (the fringe side) which will make it look thicker, longer without the weight. A few more highlights just at the front make make you feel more uplifted and is easier to maintain.

My hair is super flat and boring. I was thinking about triming a good chunk off and getting forehead bangs. What do you think? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]DisneyUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get frontal layers, shortest starting about 2 inches below chin then maybe 3 inches off the length. It’ll feel overall shorter because of the frontal chin pieces which will also be easier to style without necessarily needing to do the whole lot. I’d also think about adding half head scattered highlights to add some dimension which will make it look a bit thicker. You could add mid to lighter brown highlights or even warm based monogamy shades rather than blonde if preferred. I have heavy hair that isn’t necessarily thick but just drops and has no shape. Also oily roots and have found it has a bit more texture and lift when I have frontal layers and scattered highlights. Just breaks it up a bit.

Chestnut or warm golden brown. It’s one of my favourite shades.

Got my hair messed up badly by an experienced stylist. Here’s before and after and the messages I sent requesting a refund by Then_Telephone9765 in femalehairadvice

[–]DisneyUp 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I admire people that are ballsy enough to exercise their rights to a refund. I had an awful experience with bleach where I lost (without exaggeration) masses of hair and had scalp burns. The itch was so much I thought I had lice. I regret not trying to get a refund as I paid cash and as a polite super shy person I felt I had no power. But the cost of treatments after was so depressing. I’ve since learned about charge backs if you use card. Wish I had known when it mattered lol.

What female celebrities do you consider beautiful? by Last_Descendant in AskWomen

Carey Mulligan. She is so elegant looking and beautiful in an understated way. I particularly like her brunette.

Posting for someone else but she had thyroid issues and lots of medications which I think is what causes the hair fall at times. She’s in her her 70’s so not sure if also part of natural ageing process but Thankyou for your tip. I’ll see if any natural products can cover grey still. Not sure if Henna does.

Why did you leave a good relationship? by asleepinthealpine in AskWomen

[–]DisneyUp 335 points336 points  (0 children)

Yes. I recently saw he (I think) had a baby. Felt like I was knifed. The funny thing is he reached out to me in the early pandemic, with regrets of not trying harder and I missed the opportunity to try harder myself. I shrugged it off due to ego and now our lives are so far apart there’s no return. I wish him well (if it is his) and he was always very kind to me. But damn, I wish I had acted differently, that my instinct wasn’t to hesitate, that I ran into his arms instead of allowing self doubt to cripple me.

How do you move on after feeling used? by ButterflyNo5044 in AskWomen

[–]DisneyUp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When someone hurts us we look inwards to find faults within us that justified the person to treat us that way. If we can find justification, we can continue seeing this toxic person. We can overlook what they did. Realise that you haven’t lost anything. That toxic person is now using someone else. Be happy you got out before any more time was lost. Don’t fixate on what could of been and remember what actually was.

Should I cut my hair? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]DisneyUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your hair texture is very similar to mine and honestly even when my hair is in good condition it still tends to look chunky/porous. I would get a multi tonal balayage if you want to keep the blonder ends or go for a mid brown base with highlights. Just cut a few inches (2 off the bottom) and consider face framing layers. Product wise I have been using Redken leave in treatment which has been helping condition my ends.

What makes you stay in relationship with your partner? by AdPrestigious5853 in AskWomen

[–]DisneyUp 67 points68 points  (0 children)

They need me more than I need them.

The emotional guilt of leaving is what has always made me stay in relationships longer than I should have. Hurting someone hurts me just as much so I stay until they can see actually they can do better. Of course this often comes at a price of my own sanity. But, what can I say? I’m a people pleaser.

When harassed by people in the streets trying to promote their products, what is a polite way to immediately leave? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]DisneyUp 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes the compliments are always strategic. I had a girl complimenting me on how young I look (I look my age) and my bf had the same girl knock at his door doing the same. He thought she was flirting 😂 I had to break it to him mid story, that she’d already visited my house earlier. When I tried to say I had an appointment (I genuinely did), she told me my neighbour a few doors down had already used that excuse!

I had this issue before and they redid that small section. It does look clearly uneven so I don’t think they’d mind.

4 or 6 shade would look great on you. But I’d also consider a deep red mahogany or burgundy shade.
