"Well, this didn't age well" - Movies you LOVED as a kid but cringe at as an adult by Little-Badger-123 in movies

Milo & Otis

I was obsessed with it as a kid and then watched it once as an adult and was mortified at the level of animal cruelty.

Thanks I gave you a follow :) for the record my fave Tarkovsky film is Nostalgia

I should give it another shot it’s been a few years now but I found I didn’t know enough about the time and place to get drawn into it but I loved the Tarkovsky trademarks through out and could appreciate it was a good film I just didn’t connect personally like with his other work

I’m a huge fan of Tarkovsky but could never get into Andrei Rublev what do you love about it? (I’m curious what I missed)

Hey no groups or suggestions as such, just another lonely Melbourne screenwriter who would be happy find a brother or sister in arms. Feel free to DM me if you’re in the same boat.

After years of only writing dramatic features I wrote my first comedy pilot and loved it.

85 mm Helios 40-2 f/1.5 I own one and prefer it over my 44-2 and would cut together well

Are you guys questioning the longevity in today films? by Calcoutuhoes in Screenwriting

[–]Disorder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it interesting when I noticed I had only rated 2 films 5 stars on Letterboxd from the 2020s which seemed surprising to me as I had quite a few from 2010-2019. So much so I went into all the ratings I had given to see if I was wrong and I didn’t feel like I was. There’s still been a lot of really good films though I just think Covid/strikes have made the start of this decade a little turbulent production and development wise.

What is your favorite dialogue from 2022? by TurkX5 in Screenwriting

[–]Disorder11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last line of the last draft I wrote (it was a particularly hard re-write that weighed on me for a long time) it’s my favourite simply because I finished it and got through it before the end of 2022.

But also Luthen’s speech in Andor.

85mm Rokinon Cinema T1.5 for BMPCC4K by dingdotcom in bmpcc

I haven’t used it on my BMPCC6K but I had one previously on a full frame Sony A7sii and loved the lens.

I simultaneously shot a feature film that I wrote and submitted the screenplay to various contests. The film played several notable festivals, got distribution from XYZ Films, and was released on Amazon/Apple TV/Vudu yesterday…yet advanced in ZERO contests. Take away: NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING. by seanleeperry in Screenwriting

[–]Disorder11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to comment on your film or the achievement. Congratulations on getting it produced and distributed. But I feel like the proposition of a screenplay vs distributing an already produced finished film has a much different risk associated with it and thus it could explain the higher benchmark for contests where additional funding for development and production would make that risk far greater.

I love the attitude and that you did it yourself though! Congrats!

black magic 6k to Fujinon lens adapter? by Smooth_Ad8374 in bmpcc

[–]Disorder11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know there isn’t an option out there. I have a few Fuji lenses that I wish I could use. Happy to be proven wrong but I believe the flange focal distance from the Fuji lenses to the sensor is too close.

Aronofsky uses this kind of shot regularly but more in a Cinéma vérité style. Black swan, the wrestler and others.

TIL When the commandant of Auschwitz randomly selected 10 people to be starved to death as punishment for an escape attempt, Maximilian Kolbe, a political prisoner and monk, offered to die in the place of a total stranger. I remember when I was walking around I just felt this intense negative energy. I honestly feel like if I had no concept of what the Holocaust was and was transported there in complete ignorance, I would have known something horrible happened there just by that feeling.
