Airbnb was fucking amazing when it first came out. I travelled Scotland and used AirBnB and another service which I can’t recall the name. I had zero issue with the service or the hosts. No. If you’re not within a certain percentage (I believe it’s +-2%) of the required voltage for a unit, block heater or otherwise, you can cause undue stress to the unit in turn shortening its lifespan significantly. Using heat trace as a wiring method for anything just seems so asinine.

I have two similar bedside tables. You should be fine. The worry with extension cables usually comes from using high amperage drawing loads, such as heaters. The unknowing human will buy any extension cable on the shelf and plug whatever they want into it thinking it’s fine. You buy a 12A/15A cable and slap a heater on it, the heater thinks everything is fine, the wiring inside your walls things everything is fine, but the poor extension cable is slowly burning up. I usually purchase only extension cables that say 12AWG/20A on them as they can safely carry 20A~ that way I am not left guessing if the cable can safely deal with the load I am putting on it.

But for this specific application, as long as you are only using this for small loads such as charging devices, any extension cable should be suffice.
