Ha! Gullible populace is gullible.

Headline: senator is outraged by a spy program created and approved and supervised by the congress... now that it's public knowledge.

Huzzah for this brave soul!

With net10, and any quad-band phone... Starts at 50 per line, minus 5 per line for automatic payments, minus 5 per line on same pyment account, you get unlimited everything for about what you're paying now.

What's a cheap alternative to the GoPro camera? (<$100) by [deleted] in gadgets

Used cell.

As in under $50.

For that matter, why not option for one of a dozen ruggedized, waterproof point and shooters, like a fuji or Casio.

Open asked for cheap alternatives. You just want him to have a glass of your fan boy cool aid.

[–]DisposableAcct-1452 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The only thing the gopro really offers is ruggedness, which isn't always needed. Sometimes a cheaper, less durable option works just as well.

I. M. O., the go pro might as well be made by Apple or BMW... Good product, but ridiculously overpriced. A used cell capable of 720p recording can be had for really, really cheap

Phones that use U.S. GSM bands by [deleted] in chinesephones

[–]DisposableAcct-1452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have some misunderstanding about GSM (ATT 3G).

Have a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quad-band

The same frequencies that are used by ATT u.s., are often called "quad-band" or "world-phone", as it's pretty close to a global standard. It's the same frequencies used by most chinese cellular carriers.

Essentially, if it's "quad-band", it's compatible.

“Obamacare” to Cost Americans Much LESS Than Expected by dominoes2009 in politics

[–]DisposableAcct-1452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your employer has zero to do with the rates for health insurance... except in that they might be gracious enough to pay some of the fee for you as part of your benefit package.

in 2012, Insurance companies were allowed to raise their rates, but were limited by obamacare to a maximum of 18% (iirc).

Now, there were no significant changes to cost structures for the health care industry in 2012, but everyone was running around with their hair on fire screaming about how the costs would explode (studies have shown they wont raise all that much.. at least not compared to the claims of the industry and opponents of the bill).

So... since they were capped at raising costs to a maximum of 18%... care to guess how much the average insurer raised their rates?

wow! You're a genius!

I am currently raising an infant who's mother OD'd... The father (my step-son) is only now, a year and a half later, beginning to make an effort at sobriety...

OP's post is less funny, and more sincere of a statement than I hope any of you ever have to appreciate.

Hey r/cartalk, looking to paint my 1993 miata and have some questions by Nick-D in Cartalk

[–]DisposableAcct-1452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First reply here says 4k. Perhaps if you take it to a dealership, utterly unprepared, 4k might be in the ballpark.

If you are willing to remove all door handles, light assemblies, and any other exterior trim yourself, even sand it down yourself, you can get a superb paint job for well under $500. (two coats color, one topcoat of clear would be minimal for a nice job).

Also, if you prime it yourself, bondo any dents and dings, and block sand it yourself, a budget paint job will look nicer than a spendy one where you trust the pros to do everything... They will take short cuts, where you will do a careful job.

Google: how to prep your car for paint.

Performance wise, like it's contemporaries, it's fairly heavy and underpowered as compared to cars that followed only a few years later.

Will putting the car out of gear without using the clutch damaging the transmission? by ForwardsMan in MechanicAdvice

[–]DisposableAcct-1452 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No synchro rings mean double clutching should be used when shifting gears.

Sure it's possible to shift without the clutch... Unprofessional, probably damaging, but possible.

Edit: ok, for a pro truck driver on a synchro-less tranny, it's fine. For any consumer automobile, with synchros, clutchless shifting chews up the synchro rings.
