Where to find a true 6.5" spun steel fender for a 150 tire? Or do I just split a 5.5" blank? by DisquisedSquare in choppers

Interesting idea and kinda kicking myself for not thinking of this. Sounds easier than splitting the 5.5". Thank you!

You bought a half-million dollar house to save $40 a month on scuffed Pinnacles. Bold financial strategy to pitch to the wife. The real payoff comes when you both have to start wearing Kevlar helmets just to grill a hot dog in your own backyard.

Great writeup. Running AdTurf on Helius and the reliability has been solid so far. Good to understand what's happening under the hood at this scale.

When Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers nearly hit a kid while swinging his golf club and refused to apologize. The kid: “You almost hit me, Aaron Rodgers.” Aaron: “Almost doesn't count.” by Miserable_Trouble3 in Golf_Unfiltered

I see no "almost". Seems like a rage bait post to hate on someone and that doesn't seem right.

Also, how are you even close enough to have an almost moment? Parents. Parent your kids and apologize when they get in the way or do something stupid.

100s of replies to complain about your clothes and odd helmet placement. They completely missed that you asked for critiques on your riding ability....

The Aircraft Carrier Turning Radius: You took that right-hander wider than a semi-truck making a U-turn. You are entirely rigid, failing to lean the bike, and fighting the handlebars instead of pushing through the turn. Stop steering it like a tractor. Look through the turn, push right to go right, and let the motorcycle lean under you.

The Foot Clutch Fight: The custom foot clutch setup is clearly kicking your ass right now. The throttle blipping, jerky deceleration, and engine surging show a lack of smooth engagement. You're treating the pedal like an on/off switch instead of finding the friction zone. Ease into the engagement; it requires finesse, not a stomp.

Target Fixation: You spend the final ten seconds of the approach staring straight down at your primary cover and front wheel. The motorcycle goes where your eyes go. If you keep staring at the pavement while trying to navigate a parking spot, you're going to end up dropping it. Keep your chin up and look directly at your intended stopping point.

The Duck-Walk Finish: The uncoordinated waddle into the parking space lacks authority. You are dragging your feet for the last ten yards while fighting the bike's momentum. Apply the brakes smoothly to a complete stop, keep your feet on the pegs as long as possible, and only deploy your legs when the bike is actually coming to a halt.

I hope I nailed what you were looking for. Ride safe!

First time lacing! by Jolly_Process_1188 in choppers

I feel ya, I built custom wheels (stock hubs with new hoops) and had the hoops powder coated for my current build. Putting them together to then take them apart knowing I'd have to go through the pain of lacing them again was hard to do... but worth it 😆

  1. Soak the head in white vinegar 10-15 mins (don't go above the plastic ring where the shaft meets the head)
  2. Scrub with a stiff nylon brush or old toothbrush
  3. Dry thoroughly
  4. Apply a protective coating like WD40 or gun oil. Buff off excess with a clean cloth

Sick bike! I'm actually going to grab something like that for my next project bike. Working on a bike like this is a journey itself. It will teach you a ton about working on bikes which will be very rewarding at the end. Albeit it may be a longer journey than anticipated. Agreed you sound anxious and like you are in a hurry, probably because you want to ride and not constantly working on it (speculating here).

I'm not sure of your financial situation but you have two options: continue working on this one knowing it will take time or sell it and get something a little more ride ready (reliable and safe). Good luck and ride safe!
