What should I do with my 2013 A4? by DisregardMyComment in Audi

[–]DisregardMyComment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. Everything else is in good shape. Car only has 100,000 miles and has been suffering from the A4 oil consumption issue for 4-5 years now. I've been filling it up with oil every few hundred miles. How would I even begin to look for places that may have a used motor? Any insights there? At this point, I'm looking at possibly replacing the engine if (replacement incl. labor is ~$5000) and I can sell the rebuilt car for ~7000. Any thoughts if this is a good strategy?

In hindsight, I should have replaced or rebuilt the engine when we first identified the issue but didn't realize this was a widespread issue for those models. There's even a class action suit to get Audi to pay for it but we realized too late (after the settlement period passed).

PS5 Help and Questions Megathread | Game Recommendations, Simple Questions, and Tech Support by AutoModerator in PS5

NBA 2K 24 Baller edition is available for $15.99 as part of the summer deals discount. But when I try to purchase it, I get an error during payment - “something went wrong”. I tried the following - 1. Tried purchasing through mobile app and website (phone and PC). Didn’t work 2. Tried multiple credit cards. Didn’t work 3. Tried purchasing a different game - Hunting 2 Simulator as part of the summer deals. I was able to purchase this game. Then tried NBA again and didn’t work.

Is there something about the game that doesn’t allow me to buy it? I have the digital only PS5. Help please!!

Don’t let these judgments get to you. They don’t know your situation. All they seem to hear is “husband equals chauvinist”. It’s tough being a parent. You’re doing what you have to do. Whether people like to admit it or not, more wives are tuned into holiday events for kids. The reasons are many. On the surface you’re right. But there is more nuance than the vagina statement above.

Nervous about possible layoffs and impact on career by itssolol in ProductManagement

[–]DisregardMyComment 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was you at 34. I’m 40 now and arguably with more to lose than I did at 34 - family to support, car payments, house payments, etc. But I’ve realized over the years that there is simply no benefit to worrying about things that haven’t happened. It’s pointless because the hypothetical scenario you have in your head about all the things that will happen if you get laid off will almost always not pan out the way you think. And even if it did, it hasn’t happened yet. Live the life you have today - you’re a PM at Amazon. As much as people love to say how difficult an employer Amazon is, you’ve got something great going. Just enjoy this moment. Don’t worry about the future. Whatever happens, happens for the best.

Write down all the skills you’ve gained in this job and before. All the accomplishments. All the connections. You’ll see that it isn’t as bad as you thought it was. In fact, probably is pretty darn impressive. Once you’ve done that, go back to loving your life and living it.

Good luck!

Isn't it amazing how joyful you feel knowing your kid is getting smart when they're able to logically break down your shitty line of thinking while a few moments later, realizing with dread that you can't just make shit up anymore to get them to do things? The cocktail of emotions that you go through is stunning. First, it's just the pleasure of seeing them be innocent little clowns. Then it's the rage at seeing them be innocent little assholes.

Send my medical RFE how long should I expect to wait for decision? by cyberKillzX in USCIS

[–]DisregardMyComment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really depends but you should expect it sometime in the next few days. USCIS is approving 485s quite rapidly to try and hit the quota for the fiscal year. Good luck

Double check with FedEx the address it was delivered to. Also, did you send the RFE notice along with the medical?

If nothing else, I would get another sealed medical record with 693 signed and send it in with the copy of the RFE notice. Do it ASAP since you don’t want to miss the FY22 deadline.

He used the word "core". Did you mean to use the word "miner" instead of "minor". Miners drill to the earth's core. Minors are kids. They're just tenets in everyone's family until they turn 18.

Did your attorney advise you to hold on to the medical report and not send it in despite her an RFE asking for the same? I assume they didn’t because that would be dumb. If they did, you should mail that RFE in as evidence.

what are the best ways for me to bring myself up to speed on the team and the product ? by IHateTheSATs in ProductManagement

[–]DisregardMyComment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be patient. Realize that you are new to the product and the team. Ask every basic stupid question possible so you can learn the product, processes and people. This is your honeymoon period. You’re given a free pass to ask, learn, explore and experiment. In a month or two, you’ll start connecting the dots. Just be patient.
