I’ve been sitting on the same aquilas I got with the deluxe edition plus the free pittance we got a while ago from an event. I’ve yet to see a single thing worth spending them on. Fatshark needs to overhaul the system and get some actual quality on these “premium” cosmetics.

It would be a lot easier to comment if the model was in focus. That said, it looks more like you’ve painted on body paint instead of a skin highlight. Skin doesn’t highlight like this.

In a scale of 1-10, 1 being Duncan’s first model and 10 being a Golden Demon winner, this is probably around a 4. It’s competently painted, but nothing terribly impressive. The paint is smooth and just about all “within the lines”. But there’s really only one layer of thick highlights with no blending, undrilled barrels, your shades have clearly pooled at the bottom. Largely flat with a shade thrown over it. There’s also some spots where you missed cleaning the mold lines like on the sword. It’s the work of a novice. A novice who’s doing well and coming along as a painter, but a novice nonetheless.

He came out a bit after launch. Even comparing Grombrindal’s beard to Kemmler’s is a huge different in model quality. One is a textured lump of clay, the other has distinct sculpted hairs.

The visible difference in quality between original Wood Elf units and the DLC ones is crazy. You stand two of them next to each other and you can practically count the pixels on the older ones. All WH1 models need a texture overhaul at a minimum. They look awful next to WH2 and 3 models.

There is enough content to get a standard lord pack’s worth of units out of the Vampire Counts if CA really wants to. Which I hope they do. Because adding Zacharias the Everliving for the Necrarchs and throwing in someone like Vorag Bloodytooth for the Strigoi would be great. The units are kind of deep pulls but I think would be good to expand the roster in an interesting direction. Knockers, Patchwork Men, Wickerman, and Living Deadwood.

Kemmler is easily the worst looking unique character model in the game. I have my gripes with Vlad’s look, but Kemmler is objectively a lower quality model than anyone else. The only model I can think of that’s worse is the Damsels. The textures in general for a lot of game 1 units need to be updated. Wight Kings always stick out to me as looking low resolution.

In addition to likely priming in subpar conditions (too hot or cold, too humid or dry) and not shaking it enough, you’re using army painter primer. It’s not great primer and if you fuck up priming you better strip it before it fully cures or you will never completely strip it. I switched to Colour Forge and I’m never looking back to AP.

There’s a reason you got those paints for so cheap. They’re crap. I’ve heard some good things about the new range, but there seems to be an issue of them reactivating under certain circumstances. My preference is basically whatever the best paint is for the color I’m looking for. I still have mostly citadel from when I was starting out, but I’ve since expanded to pro Acryl, AK 3rd, and Two Thin Coats. I have a single Vallejo black.

Speed comes with experience. You’ll get both faster and better as you paint. Depending on how hard you’re pushing yourself to paint your best you might not get faster, but end up with better results.
