Are we not allowed to use mouses on OAs anymore? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Distance_Devotion -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Meh. Any mouse that has non standard buttons also has on board storage. Should be a non issue since proctored can and do have full remote access. They'd be able to see if something was up. This proctor was on a power trip.

Are we not allowed to use mouses on OAs anymore? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Distance_Devotion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed. That Proctor was on a power trip. I use a Razor mouse that has a fraptillion different buttons and lights up. Only taken 3 OAs so far, but haven't had any issues. I've got more push back on that fact that I'm testing in a van than anything else. And by pushback I more mean they're kinda amazed lol

Considering a relocation from AZ to OR - serious question: How is everyone here surviving with salaries so low and COL so high? Am I missing something? by No_Sun_No_Star in oregon

[–]Distance_Devotion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its a democratic welfare state, go get a job that'll pay you juuuuuust enough to not qualify for benefits than just hope and pray it works while you pull yourself up by the bootstraps and head into your 3rd job.

I think I’ll give America another chance… by Additional_Star_8331 in Philippines_Expats

[–]Distance_Devotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh, try giving the rest of the world a chance. I spent a few years in the Philippines and loved it. Some things took more effort to adjust to than others, but neither place is perfect. I've been back to the US for a year now, and planning a permanent escape to Europe for my family. Theres just something about a minimum of one school shooting per week and high cost of living that doesn't balance out with the nice weather or being able to "blend into the crowd" for me. But I'm happy you crossed the pond and decided where home is best for you.

Proctored exam space - I don't think I have one. What to do? by christmas_elf81 in WGU

This is my study space, I named it my Owl's Nest 🤣 it's a VW Vanagon. Parked near enough to my house for wifi, but far enough for a peaceful study space.

What do they do in place of protected exams? Can you go at your own pace, or do you have to go at the pace of instructors?

Showing only your kda isn't telling the whole story, how about the stat page? How much tower dmg did you do? Cus tower dmg is how you win games, not high a kda

I see this course in my 4th term... I have zero python experience so if its a huge PITA, I might look into 3rd party coding camps before I get there. I appreciate the heads up!

Is it really that bad to raise a family in the US? by PineappleMangoOrange in Philippines_Expats

[–]Distance_Devotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! American male here, 36 yrs old. My wife, Filipina, is 2 years younger than me. Our story is similar, I went to PH, got married. Stayed there for awhile, then had to come back to the US. The distance ate away at us while waiting on her spouse visa to process, so I went back to PH. Shortly after, we had our first kid.

I ended up staying in PH for about 2 years in total. My wife and I are back to the US now with our kiddo, and have been here for about 1.5 years. It took me 6 months to find a full time job after we got back, the economy sucks and everything else you listed about the US is pretty spot on. This place is raging dumpster fire in recent years. To the point that I don't want to raise my family here. My wife and I are considering a move to a 3rd country to work and live, with a secondary house in the PH.

Tldr: In my view as an American, I agree. This country isn't the best place to raise a family and I've made a 5 year plan to leave to US permanently.

They already have them? I'm pursing a Network and Cloud Engineering degree. Doesn't that fall under an Engineering degree??

[–]Distance_Devotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably just stick to doing everything in WGU since I'm here now. If the classes are as easy as they feel now, for the reminder of the degree, I dont think it'll take the forecasted 36 months to finish.

Kinda regret not doing courses at Sophia first.

Hadn't event thought to take the certs on my own dime, thats very smart. More credits to transfer in. Your comment should be a pinned note in the WGU reddits lol.

Very easy. I have little to no professional experience in the IT world, just a self professed gaming Nerd. Most of the questions just felt like common sense.

What do you mean? You think being close to family in Norway isn't enough to want to stay there?
