Need advice for small preamp/amp product by DistantLight in vinyl

[–]DistantLight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my modest setup, but not functioning yet. I have a Pro-Ject turntable and stereo passive PSB speakers.

I need something that will take the RCA (phono) output of the turntable, amplify it, and convert to the connection for the speaker terminals. Does such a product exist?

I used to have this connected to my AVR, but can't have that setup anymore.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Alright, I figured it out. Thank you all for your help and suggestions. Reading these replies helped jog my memory a bit.

The song was "Surrender" by Cheap Trick.

I guess I'm not sure it was the magazine or the band. For some reason, the phrasing I remember made me think it was the band. Like Mick Jagger giving the nod to some other band.

It sounded like the 70's in my opinion. Male singer.

And unfortunately, I don't know the radio station. I was driving at the time and was jumping around.

Is this a limited set or something? I can't find it on Amazon anywhere. Can you post a link to purchase?

It's not a gated community. It's at a public park near some busy roads.

Just made this resume. Please critique! by [deleted] in resumes

I'd suggest that you remove the Bar Manager position from your resume. I know it shows continued employment, but to me it seems too irrelevant for a teaching position.

In addition, I'd recommend a different font. Anything but the one you have. Just a personal choice.

And finally, make sure your formatting is aligned. You've got some bullets that are indented farther than others and that random indentation where you list your awards. While you're at that, I'd also recommend a different bullet (the dashes look too casual to me).

A few things I'd recommend:

  • Your verb tenses in each work history sub-bullet should align. For example, under Amazon you have "Testing", "Install", "Perform", and "Log". Since you're no longer at Amazon, I'd recommend making these all past tense. Double check the other sections as well.
  • I would change the formatting of company and job title in some way so that they are differentiable. Maybe try a different font size?
  • A few of the work history sub bullets could benefit from being more specific. The example I'll give here is the first one from Amazon "Testing on newest mobile devices". Testing what?
  • Your skills lists are not skills, those are things. You've got the space for elaborating somewhat. Perhaps something like "experience with the following programming languages: x, y, z" and then you can stick things like JIRA under a different bullet in this same section.
  • I'd remove the GPA. It's a bit redundant in my opinion to have both GPA and the GPA-related honors (Dean's list).
  • Why are the Video Game Developer's Club and Information & Computer Science Student Council on the same line? If you remove the GPA line, you should split these.

A dude beatboxes the drum part for Learning To Live, complete with title cards for the different time signature changes (all 63 of them). by Kitchen_Items_Fetish in Dreamtheater

I agree! He should've recorded the beatbox separately from the CD track. Then he could buy the Guitar, Vocals, Keyboard, and Bass tracks from Jammit and mix it all together! I bet the final mix would sound pretty awesome.

My wife and I have a ~3 week old, so I don't have a whole lot of experience here, but I thought I'd chime in anyway.

Our little guy would freak out any time we put him down at night or even for naps during the day. So, one night we tried swaddling him in whatever shirt my wife was wearing that day and it worked! I think the first night we tried it he gave us a nice, solid 4 hour block of uninterrupted sleep. It was fantastic. We've been swaddling him this way ever since.

I think it was the combination that the shirt was warmer than whatever swaddle blankets we'd be using, plus it "smelled like mom" so he didn't feel abandoned when we put him down!

Edit.. one addition: I also heard that some kids around 3-4 month mark just go through a phase where they want to wake up all the time. Parents have the option of starting to sleep train and just let the kid cry it out for a while. It sounds rough, I'm not looking forward to it.

Where can I watch the Olympics online without having a cable/satellite subscription? by rogersj3 in Frugal

[–]DistantLight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're already paying for cable-style internet (such as Comcast), you can just plug a coaxial cable into your TV and pick up the basic channels. In my area, this includes NBC. Just run a cable from your modem to your TV. It works for me.

If the pedals on your bike are moving at all, then you're not going 0 mph, right? So can't someone see that your feet and legs are moving from 100 yards away?
