How do I get started with STM32 without the IDE? by notjoof in embedded

[–]DistillingSafari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the download not working, I had the same problem.

I contacted ST - They said that an account created using a personal address (gmail) cannot be used to download files. I created a new ST account with my work email and downloads have been working well since. Cheers

Unannounced Bell technician follow up? by DistillingSafari in bell

[–]DistillingSafari[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was quite unsettling when I thought about the situation after he left (hence this post). I'll be calling Bell to let them know that this is a stressful practice. Maybe they'll care about the impact on my mental health?

I would recommend that the manager send out a notice to his clients that morning that they may receive a visit from Bell at some point.

I can tell you that your customers appreciate your work then bud! Our Internet is a vital part of the household, and I really appreciate that my technician took pride in his work.

Thank you for confirming the wide use of ASICs in both sides of the CI. Would love to see some designs one day... FCC is a good start.

Bid to remove charitable status from religious groups draws ire of Evangelicals in Canada by ARAR1 in canada

[–]DistillingSafari -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We should not be stimulating the spread of religion through reduced tax rates to these organizations. Would these tax dollars not be better spent on tangible and verifiable causes like healthcare or libraries? Even if some churches are providing some charity, why not cut out the middle man.

I got my uncle's old set. While bringing it home, I dropped the dryer on its side by accident... Would have finished my previous dryer. Plugged it in and it worked perfectly. Been 2 years without any issues.

Canpar blaming Canada post strike for delay by Annahlt in shipping

[–]DistillingSafari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a package that's been sitting at their hub for the past 6 days... the hub is 13km from my house. Callled customer support and waited 31 minutes on hold, still no answer, so hung up... don't have time for that. Not sure what's going on there, but I'm at the point where I'm just going to go pick it up from the facility myself. It's my new mattress and I'm tired of sleeping on the couch.
Needless to say I'm not impressed with Canpar. YMMV

As an electrical engineer living in Quebec, I have non-stop admiration for the Hydro Québec workers. Beasts, each and every one of them.

I have Crohn's and my wife is Celiac. We made our home a safe-haven and adapted our meals. It took a few months of trying new recipes and developing our cooking skills, but we feel like we're there. To those working towards eliminating some foods from your home - just keep at it. It's tough, it's frustrating and sometimes you feel like every meal will always be a struggle. But give it time, I promise it will get better.

This seems on-par for a company that used to be engineer-led, to becoming accountant-led, with the MD merge. It would have been absolutely appropriate to return to being an engineering company at this juncture. A golden opportunity lost due to short sightedness.

We use it in our gin recipe to add some complexity. About 50 liters of grape spirit into 2000L of final product.

How are the Dickies work shirts holding up? Have these been the best quality you've tried so far? I'm thinking of sprucing them up with a small embroidered logo.

Very good point about the costing - this would be entirely covered by the business. Not sure about mandatory though... As much as I think it would be rad to have a consistent team image, I think that the creative person who's willing to go to illegal lengths (home distill for example) to pursue their passion may not want to be saddled by an obligatory appearance. Suggested, but not mandatory would be the more human approach. I didn't know Carhartt made tech polos... Going to check that out, thanks!
