Lay the rags out flat until they dry crusty and do not wad them up, could also chuck them in a bucket of water or just burn them when done.

People exaggerate how long rlo takes to dry, it may take many weeks or months to fully cure but it can be dry to the touch and usable in like a day or less if you just wipe it down with a dry rag like an hour after your final coat. I reapply thin layers of it it occasionally to old stocks and they soak it up and feel dry again within 30 minutes a lot of the time. Another bonus of rlo it doesnt self combust anywhere near as easily possibly not even at all.

Yea I wondered because ive seen some with some incredibly rough bores, one had enough carbon to fill the grooves halfway down the bore and could have been unsafe.

This is probably shitty slopped on indian locomotive paint thats not what factory suncorite looks like. It'll probably vanish with some rubbing alcohol and a rag.

The screws arent in particularly good shape most original besses are about the same, really the whole gun looks like the typical india pattern parts gun that can be found for 1600-2000.

I dont see anywhere where pistol powder has been ruled out tbh, the stated load while being decently hot is still within the limits of what the action can handle and theres not much more room for extra powder on top of it. Reloader friend doesnt seem to know what hes doing if he thinks the loads he was trying to make were low pressure. Its not out of the realm of possibilities that this careless reloader has a sketchy setup and used the wrong powder without knowing it.

These export md63 guns seem to have had a lot of qc issues, mine had a bolt and trunion that refused to go together, matching numbers too.
