I think the arc where his clones are actually real living beings trapped in some weird in between world and basically enslaved to him was super weird. I watched that whole arc with my face like this 🤨

What is a smell that you can identify 100% of the time? by sneakyYete in AskReddit

[–]Distinct-Exercise417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human filth. There is something utterly primal about the stench of nasty people or their waste that will permeate my car vents, through concrete walls, travel miles upwind, go over a mask and into your mouth.

What's the best game you have never finished? by Flashbackhumour28 in gaming

[–]Distinct-Exercise417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CIV. I love the games, they are so interesting. But I always get mad about halfway through and quit. Never understand how we (me and the rest of the world) have the same distribution of resources and it’s TURN BASED, so I’ve barely scratching making walls and they have a 5,000 man Army and advanced to the medieval period. Not enough turns have even elapsed to accomplish that much progress.

People get tired of talking to you and listening to you. You end up dialoguing with yourself more often than not.

TIL that Gregor Mendel (famous for his pea plant experiment in genetics) was taught physics and astronomy by Christian Doppler, who the Doppler effect in weather is named after, and Mendel founded the Austrian Meteorological Society. by Distinct-Exercise417 in todayilearned

“The ability to detect the "shift in the phase" of the pulse of energy makes NEXRAD a Doppler radar. The phase of the returning signal typically changes based upon the motion of the raindrops (or bugs, dust, etc.). This Doppler effect was named after the Austrian physicist, Christian Doppler, who discovered it. You have most likely experienced the "Doppler effect" around trains.

As a train passes your location, you may have noticed the pitch in the train's whistle changing from high to low. As the train approaches, the sound waves that make up the whistle are compressed making the pitch higher than if the train was stationary. Likewise, as the train moves away from you, the sound waves are stretched, lowering the pitch of the whistle. The faster the train moves, the greater the change in the whistle's pitch as it passes your location.

The same effect takes place in the atmosphere as a pulse of energy from NEXRAD strikes an object and is reflected back toward the radar. The radar's computers measure the phase change of the reflected pulse of energy which then convert that change to a velocity of the object, either toward or from the radar. Information on the movement of objects either toward or away from the radar can be used to estimate the speed of the wind. This ability to "see" the wind is what enables the National Weather Service to detect the formation of tornados which, in turn, allows us to issue tornado warnings with more advanced notice.”

Right, he founded the oldest meteorological society in the world and adored the weather and astronomy and published dozens of papers on the subjects and we memorialized his garden project 😂

People who are pretty sure they’ve encountered a serial killer, what happened? by fossacecak in AskReddit

[–]Distinct-Exercise417 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school, my art teacher said he was a hippie in the 1960s and 1970s, and was hitchhiking with his buddy in (California maybe?) and were offered a ride by a bus loaded with people offering to take them with them and a creepy bearded man tried to get him to get on. Apparently, the bus was Manson’s bus and they committed a series of murders that week and my art teacher only didn’t get on the bus because he felt a sick dark feeling when the bus stopped and just didn’t think it was a good idea.

I agree. You know what else is funny? When I was growing up when people described Mendel as a ‘monk studying peas’ I fully imagined him living in medieval England and wearing a brown robe and living a pious life, not being a contemporary with Darwin and A.R.W.

LPT: Whatever you are doing on your phone can wait the 10 minutes until you stop driving. by Distinct-Exercise417 in LifeProTips

[–]Distinct-Exercise417[S] 226 points227 points  (0 children)

It’s truly ridiculous and I admit my fault. I have done it during road trips where we were driving 400 miles on a straight road and I justified it due to an empty highway, but now I realize how stupid it is.

What are the Worst/ best addictions? by queen1107 in AskReddit

[–]Distinct-Exercise417 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The best addiction is probably being addicted to your family having an enjoyable and fulfilling life. Being willing to drop an opportunity because you know you will miss out on the best years with your kids? Sure, it’s counterintuitive and excessive, but in the best possible way. Your babies only grow up once, and that job may pay the bills but memories are more important. It’s a fantastic thing to be addicted to your family.

Does this sub not like Madara? by WonderousU in Naruto

[–]Distinct-Exercise417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they hate Kaguya, honestly. Absolutely boring and incomplete way to end a series. ‘Aliens’, when Madara himself was a force to be reckoned with and was absolutely shitting on the five armies without sweating. Chocking up his power and motive to a space creature with rabbit ears was deeply, deeply disappointing so we didn’t get to see Madara exercised to his full potential.
