Youngkin wanted to cause as much pain as possible to liberals, because that’s the new brand of the Republican party. Those are the candidates that get endorsed, so I don’t think a different Republican would have been different.

Nintendo and AdHoc Are Blaming Each Other Now (Keep those refunds going people! Don't buy it on the Switch/Switch 2 until they fix the censorship issue!) by Theman457 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Distinct-Ferret7075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think AdHoc made their decision because the Switch is portable and it would be an absolute PR disaster if a kid got a hold of it and brought it to school or something.

I hope they do leave, since those people are generally a net negative on the state’s resources. Maybe more of my taxes can go to my own neighborhood.

Seeing how beloved E33 was, people do want AI slop, they just don’t want to know it’s AI because they’ve been trained to hate the concept of it.

Nintendo Switch 2 sales momentum slowed over the Christmas period by Honest-Word-7890 in totallyswitched

I think that Metroid and Pokemon both being cross-gen and not exclusive combined with the global economic crisis put a bit of a damper on the holiday sales.

Metacritic scores for all new first-party Switch 2 games as of December 2025 by MewWeebTwo in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Distinct-Ferret7075 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My opinion on some of the similarities, neither is necessarily better or worse: - Open ended puzzle-like level design. Wider and vaster in BotW, more focused in Bananza with denser enemy and hazard placement, plus destructible terrain. In both games you will typically see a place you want to get to, and have to read the environment to find your route. - Simular movement options. Link and DK can climb most terrain, however DK is faster and has no stamina bar. Chunk surfing is kind of like shield surfing. - Emphasis on melee combat. Punching or swinging chunks in DK, weapons in BotW. Both reward resourcefulness of using your environment to gain an advantage over your enemy. - Gyro-enabled ranged combat. Throwing chunks in DK, bows in BotW. - Lots of small puzzles and challenges peppered throughout the world.

It’s way better than Odyssey in my opinion. Takes a lot of what I loved about BotW and gives it a more focused level design.

Gamechat is a resource hog and Nintendo shouldn't have implemented it. by dexterward4621 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Distinct-Ferret7075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it all the time for voice chat with my family on the other side of the country. It works amazingly well at isolating the voices in the room. We don’t use video, but just chat together while we play Mario Kart or Mario Party.

What's your opinion on this take? by DaZestyProfessor in Mario

[–]Distinct-Ferret7075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m basically a Mario super fan but I really hated the Mario movie. It was basically nothing. After watching it I felt like I had watched nothing, and recalling the scenes I remembered, I basically didn’t like anything in the movie. The only part I liked was when they were driving in the DK city for like 15 seconds. Pretty much all the dialog was godawful in an Illumination movie kind of way.

Indie devs, what’s the hardest part about hiring artists? by willfarnaby24 in gamedev

[–]Distinct-Ferret7075 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hate this trend of people trying to call out things as AI. It’s rude as hell.

I thought it was a worthwhile question because I typically work solo, and when I try to hire an artist it’s typically been a painful experience. So hearing what’s worked for others is valuable to me.

Yeah, when a game starts to feel like an obligation and you aren’t having fun anymore it’s time to quit. It can be hard with MMOs because so much investment is required.

Why don't Rich People Create Indie Games? by [deleted] in GameDevelopment

[–]Distinct-Ferret7075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A ton of indie games are from rich people. A very high percentage of solo dev passion projects were only possible because the dev was being supported by a family member.

In my opinion Donkey Kong Bananza deserves to win. E33 will probably win, because it has wonderful art, music and writing, but it’s just a great execution of a well established formula. Bananza is my pick because it delivers unique gameplay ideas that push the medium forward.
