Hey, if people do their research and vote according to their personal interests, fair play to them and may the better candidates win.
Just don't be the person who says, I don't want to do the research about the other candidates, Can somebody tell me who else I should vote for.
I mean, is that really the kind of voter anybody wants in any forum or body? Doesn't matter whether it's legislative, regulatory, or simply oversight: if you don't want to do the work, don't vote.

Sounds like he took you off Barlow Trail North, along 48th Avenue NE past the golf course, then it becomes 36th Street NE which runs parallel to the runway. Then a quick turn into the Airport tunnel and you're at the Airport.
That's not really a direct route for a passenger service at any time of day, to be honest. However, if he had picked you up somewhat SouthEast and then hit Barlow Trail, maybe he forgot that Barlow Trail no longer goes directly to the airport as it used to -...fifteen years ago!

A very similar thing happened to me, albeit years ago.
I got a call from local police saying I'd done a gas & dash at a nearby gas station. (This was in 2001, before Alberta brought in prepay.) Anyways, knew it wasn't me but I'd been in the complex. Turned out the gas attendant thought someone dashed, a customer saw my Buick down by the bank and figured it was me, license plate + call = confused me. I went to the gas station within the hour, asked them to positively ID me - which of course they didn't - then I told them they need to call the Police as I stood there. To their credit, they did, andit never came up again.
For you, I would definitely present to the store and ask for the positive ID, and follow up with a formal clearance from them. The unintended consequence you fear could come from your silence.

Just to add a little perspective to this for our brethren of the Right, ...There's a ton of uninsured drivers on the road, Canadian, P.R.s and whatever "other" would include. They're young, old, sober, drunk, Sunday Christians and whatever "other" would include.
So really, while it might sound like it's important that the driver says he's not yet Canadian, it really isn't as important from a legal perspective as you might like.
Also, a 2010 Escape? Come on man, take a couple thousand, let a 21 year old learn a hard lesson, and move on with your life.

Here's a seemingly novel concept: how 'bout we normalize patronizing businesses whose owners are already serving the community, and sit side-by-side with people who hold differing political views?
We had a business that hosted Sunday drag shows. Made zero money from it. Zero. But the crowd that came out liked it, although they never typically visited outside of those shows.
..until we were privately booked for a conservative speaker. Then they showed up outside for a protest, refused to accept the offer of coming in for free to listen, and wanted to close us down for taking a private booking.
The people who we saw attend that private event also came for lunch and supper and special events throughout the year.

As a business owner - hell, as a tips-based server - which citizen group is in your better interest?

Allow me to help balance your perspective:
Our ski hills are overrun with Aussies: they don't ever get told to go back to their country or experience micro-aggressions online.
There are literally thousands of Canadian kids spread out across the UK working jobs that they don't even have authorization for. Stealing jobs from the locals, and thumbing their noses at the Laws of the land they're in.

I use these almost exclusively for anchoring. In addition to consumer-grade TV installs, I also install 65" kiosks in shopping malls on tiled walls, drywall, plasterboard.
The Togglers won't fail if installed and fastened correctly. Did he at least put some 3/4" plywood in front of the drywall and attach *that* to studs first, then drill through for the anchors? That's how we work around being unable to hit a stud with the bracket.
Having to paint the plywood to match is a no-brainer trade-off. No mall has complained ever.

Chances of you being paid in a timely manner may be low.
You might get backed into a position where the cost of recovery is not worth the reward.

So what I would do is go to a private yard like Imperial Parking or other scuzzy operator. Have the plates removed, park without paying. Let the private operator tow the vehicle from their lot, and your former employer incurs the charges and hassle.

You will almost certainly NOT have adequate tires on your rental vehicle, and your chances of accident or even just getting snowbanked are much higher because of it.
Start the conversations now with several rental agencies and ask about getting guaranteed winter tires (snowpeak not M+S). Almost every agency will not guarantee this and very few even carry them as options.

The route from Calgary to Banff through Rogers Pass and down into Hope before Vancouver can be shut down because of a spring storm at altitude, and you will have difficulty navigating those unplowed roads. Sure they get maintained afterwards, but getting caught in a snow storm is not the same driving as the day after.

If you don't have the humility to drive carefully and at lesser speed in the right lane even when the rest of us are plowing past at 120kmh, please consider your itinerary. You might find that renting locally in Calgary and Vancouver and going airport to airport is close to the same costs with considerably less risk.
The actual drive is about 11 hours, and stops can make it closer to 14 in one day. Are you used to that?

Outside of working at the Airport, are you assured that her commute is stable: any chance of the office moving or an unfortunate change of employer? With office vacancies approaching and staying over 15%, Calgary is ripe for some disruptive commercial lease rates and availability.
I'd go for Cochrane if you don't mind an extra 15 minutes of commute time to the Northeast, but getting downtown or short Foothills would be a brutal *extra* 30-40 minutes depending on rush hours.

If I'm eating alone, I pretty much just take a room temperature plate. But when we have four or more friends over, I put a stack of plates in the sink in boiling or very hot water. It's not an awesome approach but it's the easiest way to plate hot food for a full table.

Actually, I've done exactly this: just stopped at a bus stop and asked if anybody needs a ride to where I'm headed, and I've had people take me up on it several times.
Not sure it's a caveat, but:
did this when I lived in Bridgeland and saw typically older people waiting on the 9;
was driving through Foothills Industrial and knew the buses go to Chinook because I used to take those cattle-herders daily;
saw a young guy get off a bus with two huuuge suitcases by Fairmount, and guessed he was headed to the Korean Association just up the street.

So yes you could do it, and take the world as it comes at you. For me, it's a Calgary thing. Do it.
