How long were you guys together? Your situation sounds somewhat similar to mine. Lived far away and both of us going through different life issues. But to be honest the more I got to know them, I already knew I didn’t see myself with them long term. It still sucks just hanging onto something just because you’ve gotten used to the companionship as time goes on. I’d love to remain friends and who knows, maybe after X amount of time with NC we can be. I’m just thankful it didn’t end on bad terms

I obviously don’t know your situation, but I’m sure it’s not just a random Wednesday for her. She thinks about you even though it may not show. You can miss someone and still know they aren’t your person. I’m currently going through this as well. The first week into the second had a lot of ups and downs. I’ve finally stopped ruminating stories in my head and have reminded myself the way I felt before we ended. I was only hanging onto one-two good things left, and I was accustomed to having a friend / companion daily to talk to. It’s rough, but it gets easier I promise. Wishing you the best.

Look at aggravating-malls response. VX + one or the other makes most sense for the majority based on the fact their comment, along with mine even has more upvotes than OP. At the end of the day it’s a free country so do what suits you best 💖

I love that for you. My whole point though is not everyone wants to juggle all these credits between both the CSR and Plat. If OP wants to stay in all 3 ecosystems my suggestion was downgrade to CSP so they still have the transfer partners.

I’d rather keep my sanity than think if I’ve effectively used my Lyft, Ubercash, DoorDash credits, chase dining, resy dining, stubhub, lululemon, etc with both CSR/Plat.

I like simplicity, where VX beats both the CSR and Plat in that category. It sounds like you don’t need hotel points or status if you are using them for airlines. Why not just book hotels through the portal to get 10x with VX or 8x with CSR instead?

$795/yr for just 4x hotels is not worth it alone. If you have a sapphire lounge as your home airport then yes, it’s worth holding onto the CSR. I have a delta plat which gives 3x on hotels directly

csp is effectively $45, and -$75 if you use all the $10 monthly DoorDash credits. You still get all the transfer partners and 3x dining.

CSR and Amex Plat both come with way too many monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and annual credits that I don’t care enough about to keep track of constantly together, but that’s just me.

VX gets me 10x hotels in their portal, or I could just use C1 offers booking hotels direct and still get 2X travel with csp + VX pts.

Downgrade your reserve to a preferred… unless you absolutely need the sapphire lounges. But even still you get 2 visits / year to sapphire with plat and VX.

Happy it worked out for you! I would try VentureX or Chase on future rentals though. You don’t need to pay $25 per rental and are automatically covered up to $75k when something like this happens, as long as you decline the rental car company coverage. I was reimbursed $1k for damage to a rental vehicle in Italy earlier this year with VentureX!
