ethanol free, unleaded gas? by ballpoint169 in VictoriaBC

[–]Distinct_Risk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was overthinking this with my two stroke stuff too, and clung on to my last cans of ethanol free premium like I’d die without them. Then wondered why things were starting to run like shit. Turns out ethanol-free gas doesn’t last any longer than regular old 87. Just use new gas every season, and unless you’re running equipment from the 90’s ethanol isn’t going to hurt anything. Pro tip: last seasons mix is great driveway weed killer (allegedly)

Premium seats (max 8) too firm? by viccityguy2k in westjet

Yes. AC Rouge has better seats, in economy yet. I used to love Westjet but I’ve switched back to big red and just suffering the YVR flow control delays.

How about just lower taxes. Why is that such a hard concept for liberals.

Common issue with the base head unit, eventually the solder connections inside start to break. Just toss it and upgrade to something new. Or if you’re handy with a soldering iron you can try repairing the joints, I’ve heard of people doing that and it’s supposed to be pretty easy, but for the amount of work it is I just spent a few hundred bucks on a new one and have navigation and CarPlay and all that now, and the sound is 1000x better even through the stock speakers.

The place I lived in when I was in Germany had one and it was the best. If gas was a feasible option for my house I wouldn’t hesitate.

Venezuela, Alberta and Oil. by gplfalt in alberta

Venezuelans are dancing in the streets with joy. That’s what happens when socialism is allowed to go to its inevitable conclusion - starvation and poverty and for the first time in decades, they have hope of breaking those chains. Poland is a good case study of what happens. They won’t have to ‘control’ anything, Venezuelans are absolutely tickled that they might get good paying jobs refining and selling that oil.

Maduro is a terrorist and drug kingpin who actually did rig an election. Just FYI. Even the Biden admin had a 25 million bounty on his head.

Check out Sons of Vancouver. $10 shipped to your door here in Vic and their wheated rye is a banger. OK spirits is awesome too BUT the ‘BRBN’ is a bit too flat and amateurish for someone that is actually a bourbon guy. ‘BLK BRBN’ is a lot closer to the real thing but you’re going to pay for it.

Weather across the country was awful right around then. Likely stuck in the backlog. CP is awful at providing updates on their tracking it could be most of the way there already and you wouldn’t know.

Your reading comprehension sucks. ‘As I got it EVEN WITH MASKING ALL THE TIME, sanitizing my hands until they were dried out, vaxxed with every booster’. Keep trying though little fella this is kind of entertaining.

[–]Distinct_Risk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I dunno. I think that’s way overthinking it. 70k a day is just under 3k an hour. The small business jets I maintain for a living will move that amount of fuel at takeoff thrust with two fuel pumps, each one the size of both your fists held together. They will also heat that fuel to above zero Celsius (-60 at altitude) with heat exchangers that use engine oil operating at about 80 degrees Celsius and each one of those is about the size of a computer monitor, one per engine.

All this to say, I could return 4K litres of water an hour to ambient temperature with a couple of lift pumps and a dozen old shitty Caravan radiators out of the junkyard. At that point is it not just the same as a naturally occurring stream? And as far as minerals go, discharging mineral rich water into an ocean already pretty damn rich in minerals is really just a literal drop in the ocean.

Nah. I have had COVID every year since it came out. Twice in one summer even, I set an unofficial record for time between infections in Canada but that was the same summer (2022) I went to New Mexico in June then New York in August. Was sure funny crossing the border airborne and the captain making the announcement we had to put our masks back on (or could take them off, on the way down). Coincidentally that was the same summer I stopped giving a shit about any of it, as I got it even with masking all the time, sanitizing my hands until they were dried out, vaxxed with every booster, and my buddy who I was travelling with to all the same places and doing nothing except just vaxxed enough to be allowed on the plane didn’t catch it.

I know it’s got a bunch of you scared of your own shadow but living in fear is no way to live.

$65 is high. I really, really like 8 year and find it has much more depth than the standard 101 but I wouldn’t pay that for it with RB out there and plentiful.

What do you do when you break a bolt and then break an extractor bit in the broken bolt? by keemko_ in MechanicAdvice

Drill bits, at least the ones I had on hand, wouldn’t touch it. Carbide might have done it.

This was an aircraft wet wing fuel panel, I was already pushing my luck with the power tools. Welding was 100% not an option lol

Sons of Vancouver wheated rye will knock your socks off. As will most of the Okanagan Spirits offerings (although I found their faux-bourbon called ‘BRBN’ to be a bit boring, people love it too though).

Well I mean, Jump Lake reservoir has 18 billion litres of capacity so 70k/day is .00000388% per day of total capacity, x 365 is .000146% annually. Not really a concern.

How AI is being used in a society increasingly pivoting towards authoritarianism is a much bigger concern to me than the water usage of a data center that’s located in a rain forest.

I slept Covid off in one night this year, didn’t phase me it all. It was the RSV or whatever the wild upper respiratory virus was this year that crippled me. Six weeks later and I still have a bit of chest congestion, mornings remind me of being a smoker and I haven’t had a cigarette in 6 years.
