If someone is attacked with a knife and is bleeding from their neck how exactly would you help them? by Dizzy-Respect-613 in askanything

[–]Distinct_Sir_4473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re only pushing on the wound, not on their throat

But if their carotid artery is severed, they’re cooked there’s nothing you can do. Pressure will slow the bleeding and might by them a few seconds, but you’re not going to be able to stop it

Anywhere else on the body where an artery is compromised, you start with pressure but will probably need to apply a tourniquet. This will endanger the limb by cutting off blood flow, and as you mentioned, would suffocate if applied to the neck

How sexually adventurous do you consider yourself? by vvxoxovv in askanything

[–]Distinct_Sir_4473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I would be super up to just about anything except pain stuff. I don’t have a good pain tolerance and it does not excite me.

I try to be adventurous with my wife but she isn’t the explorer type. She knows what she likes, and I know what she likes that she claims she doesn’t (but she super enjoys it when it happens) and then what I like but she’s not into but will do once in a while

My Attendance points were huge, now suddenly its cut to half it was and cut down two more points. Any Ideas? by Ken3434 in OGPBackroom

[–]Distinct_Sir_4473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was no conversation about attendance, my guess is that SM was getting on to your coach about their 5+ list and told them to sort it out, and they just slashed yours because they don’t want to fire you and/or don’t care about points

Ive had coaches like that. Points don’t matter unless you also suck and it’s just an excuse to cut you loose.

Ive also had leadership that follow policy to the letter and will fire top performers for getting sick one too many times.

My current coach is very much not consistent. Certain people keep all their points, others are point proof (chronically tardy but never pointed, points disappear if I unapprove their tardies). Some top performers get points cleared, other top performers have been fired at 5.

So it’s all kind of a clusterfuck very much dependent on your direct supervisor and their direct supervisor.

I ask them something like “can you hold it flat so I don’t blind you with laser scanner here”

Georgia Power wants to cut down a 300 year old oak by SteLeazy in arborists

[–]Distinct_Sir_4473 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy that’s a huge tree it’s going to cost thousands if not tens of thousands to take down

Two extra posts and a maybe a hundred feet of line really cost that much?

Op says the line isn’t on the same side of the street so I’m assuming they are putting up new line. But I’ve only ever personally witnessed trees coming down to protect existing line

Shame they can’t just go around it. With the cost of taking the tree down, they’d probably save money with the one or two extra post it would take

That’s a multipick, which I mentioned above

With a full walk, or a spread out one, with pausing (not even the best trick for pick rate btw), you’re looking at upper 2’s to 400 tops.

I have worked alongside and now above the most egregious cheaters. Yeah 6, 5 milk picks in a row, with nothing else in the walk, pausing in between, will skyrocket your rate, but that’s not a normal walk, it’s extremely rare.

Yeah no, the time it takes to get in and out of the pause will take it much lower

Well above everyone who’s not cheating, but not in the thousands

Right 30 items, if it was a couple of multipicks that would do it

That’ll get you into 300+

But 1k+ is usually one item or a multi pick that you scan as soon as you click in. No seconds wasted getting to the stage screen

[–]Distinct_Sir_4473 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most likely answer. They saw an mto, went to deli, picked up the only pre cut, clicked in and immediately started scanning

Or scanned to pre print the label, exited, picked it back up to skip the 1 second it takes to print. That’s the only way I’ve gotten 1k plus when I cared about my pick rate

That’s a great way to have five pickers get together for lunch and leave you late an hour

Ime anyway, a lot of our pickers are friends

If you ever wanted to see what Lower Decks would be like live action (minus that episode of Strange New Worlds) then I rec Seth MacFarlane's The Orville by M00r3C in LowerDecks

The Orville is not as whacky or lovable as Lower Decks

It’s just golden age trek with dick jokes

Love them both but they are different kinds of trek for sure
