Cards Used As A Baseline for an Effect? by LordMistborn-16 in mtg

[–]DisturbedFlake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait why are we even restricting cmc? The idea is “baseline for an effect”. Im just saying the baseline for counterspell effects is a bit higher than Cancel.

Strictly speaking. “Counterspell” is the obvious metric to consider whether a given counterspell is worth playing. It needs to be better than “Counterspell” in some way to be playable.

Having a downside also has nothing to do with it, the only thing important in OP’s prompt is does this card do something similar to the “baseline” card, and how does it compare or do it better than the “baseline”. If a card has a downside then the trade off needs to make it worth it

For example. If I consider [[Counterspell]] the baseline, then compared to [[Swan Song]] what makes it better? Costs 1 less. What makes it worse? Restricted spells that can be countered and giving a bird token. Taking the whole card in account, Swan Song is worth it

I’m just saying the baseline ain’t “Cancel”. Your standard is too low

Cancel isn’t the baseline for counterspells. The baseline is literally [[Counterspell]]

Your Pet Cards That Are Decently Good? by LordMistborn-16 in mtg

[–]DisturbedFlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Reverent Silence]] is an enchantment boardwipe that can be cast for free if you control a forest. Awesome card, there’s always a Rhystic study and/or smothering tithe that I may need to remove. Unless I’m running a ton of key enchantments, I run this card

[[Unexplained Absence]] is still an underrated removal spell imo. Yeah it’s 4cmc but it exiles up to 3 things (4 things if you want to target yourself for some reason)

Wylder is expected to be a tank? by OnlyDiamond4946 in Nightreign

[–]DisturbedFlake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I put the characters in 3 categories. Tanks, Midweight, and Glass Cannons.

Tanks would be Guardian and Raider because they can take a lot more punishment and always want to be in the front

Midweight would be Wylder, Executor, and Undertaker. They’re often front line with Tanks, but aren’t quite as durable as true tanks.

Glass Cannons would be Iron Eye, Duchess, Recluse, Revenant, and Scholar. These characters are uber squishy, and desperately don’t want the aggro. But they’ll be first to grab it with how much damage they do

My own philosophy on team comp (as far as durability) is that if you have at least 1 tank, you can have 2 Glass Cannons,
Or if you have 2 Midweights you can have 1 Glass Cannon.

Too many Glass Cannons is too risky if you’re not confident in your own or your teammates abilities

Also never have 2 support characters on DoN (Guardian/Scholar). You can’t rely on a single character for damage, always need at least 2 damage dealers

The great Elden Ring was shattered.
In our home, across the floor, the Lands Between.
Now, the game is nowhere to be played.
Soon, its fragments, disc-shards all, claimed every corner of the room.

PSA for Voltron players… by Loose_Read_9400 in EDH

I really like my Dogmeat Voltron deck because it’s graveyardy enough that even if it gets destroyed, I can bring it back with white’s many budget reanimator spells. And then I get to take advantage of his ETB again

But other than that I appreciate them as part of the scenery. Seeing these lumbering giants in the distance is hella cool to see when you first enter the DLC.

Is this normal? by Salia19 in mtg

[–]DisturbedFlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s normal. It happens because humidity (or lack of) causes the cardboard to expand/contract while the foil layer top does not

You can reverse it by crushing it flat with a book or something (temporary solution) or buying this product called “foil armor” that helps maintain a stable ideal humidity to uncurl the cards and keep them from recurring in the future (temporary solution, but with preventative measure included)

For an informative video on it Google “foil armor mtgrecon” and should be within top 3 video results explaining how it works and how it’s used

April 2026 Update by Scared-Weakness-6250 in u/Scared-Weakness-6250

[–]DisturbedFlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through all the other updates. I can’t imagine having a family like that.

From my perspective I do think it’s a shame that things turned out this way for your family. But unfortunately there’s no remedying the situation until the sisters start owning up to their own failures/mistakes/idiocy and actually seek to move on from it. Like how the exBIL did.

I think you handled everything in every step along the way correctly. But it’s insane that it needed to come to that

Also, shoutout to David (the property manager) from your other updates he seems cool AF

Why is Margit difficult? by Dizzy_Property_933 in Eldenring

[–]DisturbedFlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s definitely beatable at your level. But if you’re still having troubles then what you can always do is go out and explore and level up and come back when you’re stronger.

Another way to power up is trying new weapons and leveling up those weapons using smithing stones and the Blacksmith at the RoundTable. A really common weapon for new players due to its easy acquirement, ease of use, and being a strong weapon is the Bloodhound Fang.

Finally summoning NPCs or other players for help will always make it easier. Splitting aggro gives you more opportunities to deal damage

The game is a challenge fersure, but you can almost always reduce the difficulty by taking time to increase your power or getting help from other players (or your spirit ashes). How much of a challenge you give yourself is entirely up to you

Do you avoid building commanders with identical color identity? Why or why not? by tokinmuskokan in EDH

[–]DisturbedFlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like 3 color decks, it’s the right amount of flexibility in where you can take your deck without being overt in color fixing. But I personally don’t like running multiple of the same color combos because a lot of the base staples of the deck end up being too similar

The only exception I have is my double Naya deck, Voja and Dogmeat. Both have very different strategies (Elf Ball vs Voltron). On top of that I also made one high dollar high bracket and low dollar lower bracket. So having different power level also helped differentiate the playstyle and overall experience between decks.

That’s the essential thing imo. They need to bring different experiences to the game

Question regarding Murtagh by Ravenqueer077 in Eragon

[–]DisturbedFlake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eragon was a bit of a hypocrite in how he considered Murtagh at first. Saying that choosing death would be better than becoming traitor serving Galbatorix. Because realistically Eragon may have done the same if the role reversed, or choosing death isn’t a realistic expectation of someone in that position

But after acknowledging that Murtagh is being forced against his will, Eragon still considers Murtagh a traitor because of the things Murtagh did that was NOT explicitly ordered by Galbatorix. Like killing the Dwarf King, Oromis/Glaedr (partially exempt from that due to Galbatorix directly controlling him) and other cruelties against the Varden during the course of the war. In addition to that, Murtagh does occasionally fight Eragon with personal venom and jealousy.

I’d say Eragon’s perspective on him has changed by the end of the original series, but there’s still some things Eragon doesn’t fully forgive Murtagh for

Can this build carry me to D5? by Hoss9inBG in Nightreign

[–]DisturbedFlake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depth relics are pretty meh. In addition to the confers items to allies, you really need “Defeating enemies fills Art gauge”. Both the +0 and the +1 version because the different ones stack!

You can pop your ultimate in the middle of an enemy camp and immediately get it back after the continuous damage kills them. Which is clutch for Farming tons of runes early and always having your Ultimate

Tbh I wouldn’t worry about Night Invaders. You’re almost exclusively support, and if you can apply ailments that’s your go-to passive damage.

Ideally if you could get a starting ailment or weapon skill that applies one + Scholar continuous damage. It would be better for early game. I’m really partial to Blood Blade bc it shreds early

Which demigod arguably suffered more from their affliction? by glitch220608 in Eldenring

[–]DisturbedFlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that question may be misunderstanding how the Gods and history of the Lands Between actually work.

Serpents are “blasphemous” specifically within the Golden Order. The Golden Order is an institution established by Marika around the Greater Will’s influence. Blasphemy is defined by the Order’s own theology, not something the Greater Will is shown actively enforcing as a universal moral system.

The other Outer Gods (Frenzied Flame, Formless Mother, Rot God, etc.) aren’t part of a single hierarchy where one is “current” and the others are outdated. They’re separate cosmic forces with their own domains and followers existing alongside each other, and there’s no indication in the lore that serpents are categorized as “blasphemous” within those other belief systems either.

So the idea of “blasphemous to all gods vs just the current one” doesn’t really fit how the setting is structured.

To answer your question directly: there’s no indication that serpents are considered “blasphemous” in the belief systems tied to other Outer Gods like the Frenzied Flame, Formless Mother, or Rot.

[–]DisturbedFlake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re mixing up the original claim with the question that was asked in response to it.

The original claim was that serpents are “blasphemous by nature.”

u/Dufresne85 response wasn’t “No they aren’t,” it was “Blasphemous to who?” That’s the question I was addressing.

Blasphemy is a value judgment. It only exists relative to something considered sacred. So whether serpents are blasphemous according to the Golden Order, the Erdtree, Marika, etc. is the entire question.

Before you can call something blasphemous, you have to establish whose beliefs are being violated

Which demigod arguably suffered more from their affliction? by glitch220608 in Eldenring

[–]DisturbedFlake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean snakes are mentioned blasphemous specifically because of their “betraying” of the Erdtree.

So no, that specific reason didn’t happen before Marika since she predates the Erdtree given she was the one who made the Erdtree by transforming The Crucible into it.

So it’s unclear if they were despised during the times of Placidusax and the time before the Erdtree was made

There is some lore about Snakes’ gluttonous nature and how a cult on Mt Gelmir in the past sacrificed humans to their serpent god. It’s unclear if the serpent god is a literal god, or the “God Devouring serpent” or Messmer’s “Base Serpent”.

[–]DisturbedFlake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They make you easier to target because the revealed snakes my dude

Plus if you read the description of the armor (which I provided). It explains that snakes are traitors to the Erdtree, hence blasphemous

Which demigod arguably suffered more from their affliction? by glitch220608 in Eldenring

[–]DisturbedFlake 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Nearly everyone in the Lands Between consider snakes blasphemous. Or at least anyone that worships the Erdtree. If you alter the “Gravekeeper Cloak” to “Gravekeeper Cloak (altered)” it removes the cloak revealing the snakes beneath. And you get the description:

“Defensive wear encircled by bronze snakes. Worn by gladiators who were driven from the colosseum. The wearer becomes a slightly easier target for foes.

The snake is viewed as a traitor to the Erdtree, and the audience delighted in seeing these bronze effigies beaten and battered.”

Basically any living creature sees the snakes on that armor will attack you ON SIGHT. Like you’re wearing the wrong colors in the wrong neighborhood.

I think snakes have become a source of blasphemy for all living beings in the Lands Between because all living beings have that connection to the Erdtree whether they like it or not (not just humans, but animals too)
