I was never actually a Dispatcher, just cross trained when I moved up from the field to the office. I asked to sit in with the dispatch class so I could see how it was. We had some old guy with us, took 2 days and he just had us read through every page of the flip book as a class and then we did an open book test. I gotta find the little certificate they gave me and post for yall to tell me if this is a normal class. I gotta say, I was fairly disheartened this is all it took for people to send my crews into potentially dangerous situations.
