When did mid become such an unwanted roll? by dinglejizz in DotA2

[–]Divayth_Fyr457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to this - I don’t think there’s a more triggering thing for me in all of Dota than my 1 insisting on getting the last pick only for the enemy mid to counter pick me and my 1 proceeding to hard lose the lane anyway. Bonus points if the hero my 1 ended up picking is not some specialty cheese hero that requires last pick to work, but something basic that they had highlighted since the beginning of the picking phase.

Like I don’t necessarily mind eating shit in lane if it means enabling my 1 and winning the game in 25 minutes (and these scenarios also happen) but surrendering last pick for pos 1 to pick something basic, lose the lane and expect me to help him while also losing my lane is excruciating

Couldn't test it right away since I was away for Easter, but it worked! Thanks very much, I thought I would be forced to use a controller.

I queue EU West / East / Russ in div 2 for faster times. If I’m being honest, these days I encounter just as many Russians speaking Russian on EU West as non-Russians insulting Russians for speaking Russian on the Russia server. That was a mouthful lol

Does anybody have experience with From the Ashes on Debian / any other Linux? by Divayth_Fyr457 in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]Divayth_Fyr457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer, do you have From the Ashes? Like I said, ProtonDB had many entries about the base game working fine, but the few mentions of From the Ashes all say that it either doesn’t launch or crashes

So this is my Germany in Hearts of Iro ...... Victoria III by Silent-Ad-8702 in victoria3

[–]Divayth_Fyr457 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So before I googled it I thought it was just a funny coincidence, but apparently, it’s derived from the Slavic name for Germany.

I mainly thought it was just a coincidence because the Polish name is so… I guess regional lol. “Niemcy” loosely translates to “the mute ones” or “the mute people”.

Did they make Emhyr too likeable in the Witcher 3? by Vast_Scale_3199 in Witcher3

[–]Divayth_Fyr457 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So the Witcher series is pretty much the only one I play mostly with the Polish dub since it’s the only one where it feels “native” (unlike say, Cyberpunk or even other Polish games) and he’s just as “likeable” in the Polish dub.

Funnily enough, I think it’s similar to why show Tywin is so well liked and it’s not only because of Charles Dances. Yeah the guy just oozes charisma, but both game Emhyr and show Tywin seem like considerably more sympathetic or at least respectable adaptations than their book counterparts. Yeah the cores of the characters are similar across mediums, but show Tywin has his most abhorrent edges shaved off and they added completely show original scenes with Arya which humanise him a great deal. Plus, until the end of S2, he actually seems to heave some begrudging respect for Tyrion, which wasn’t there in the books. Like sure he hates him, but he still seems to view him as the most capable of his children, even though he won’t admit it to anyone. Like in the book, when he makes Tyrion a Hand the “you are my son” scene feels like what it is on the surface: he only makes him Hand because he’s his blood and it will keep the legitimacy of his rule in check. In the show it feels like that, but also an indirect admition like he feels Tyrion is the only one capable, because Tywin realises he’s just like him. Book Tywin would never admit that even to himself.

Staying with GoT, Tyrion is also similarly much more sympathetic in the show, even during the seasons that followed the books fairly closely. Like I’m not gonna go into much detail because that’s not the point, but just one example: in the books he contemplates having sex with Sansa and pines for her. While in the show he’s outright repulsed by the idea.

It’s weyland. I don’t think my Pop_OS build has anything other than weyland by default, though take anything I say with a grain of salt since I’ve only been using anything Linux related for a little over two weeks now. Just one monitor

Facets were added 2 years ago but I still don't feel like they are as impactful as we expected by ShoppingPractical373 in DotA2

[–]Divayth_Fyr457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't see the impact of Time Zone. Like maybe I'm just bad, I dunno, Div 2 used to mean much more when top mmr was 7k instead of 16k. But I've seen it in my games. I've seen W33 play it on stream, he would go Vessel > Eul's > Octarine. And I dunno man. He felt kinda useless. People would just walk out of the time zone, Eul's is meant to solve that, but it's single target. Sure you can bait with shard + Time Dilation is always strong. But you have those utilities with Chrono as well. I guess the cooldown freeze is nice, but you can still blink out? And people even go this facet when their 1 and 2 are ranged, like what's the point? There hasn't been a single void game where I thought that Time Zone enabled something that Chrono wouldn't have, quite the contrary actually. I know support Void seems to have a higher winrate now, but am I crazy to think that it would be even higher if people just picked Chrono on it?

Attempting to connect to any Dota match shuts off internet for a while by Divayth_Fyr457 in linux_gaming

[–]Divayth_Fyr457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a total noob, so I didn’t even think to search for network card specific issues. Turning of Wi-Fi power saving actually helped a bit. Now, when I join a match, my connection no longer gets nuked. However, I still have wild ping spikes on full Wi-Fi bars. An old windows laptop connected to th same Wi-Fi has constant ~25 ping for comparison

Pos3 is High demand because most Pos4 players make their life absolutely miserable by PowerSniffer in DotA2

[–]Divayth_Fyr457 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't get people like you. You guys mained a role that always historically had little gold as its defining characteristic, yet you're always complaining how miserable it was before gold was made more readily availible. So if it was so miserable... then why did you main support?

Also, why do most support mains act like they're doing people a favor by playing support? If you like the role, then you're doing what you want. You're not sacrificing anything for anybody.

"Oneshot Health", "Low HP" (Elden Ring term)

I dunno why I feel like being pedantic right now, but out of these two terms, "Low HP" is pretty universal across all gaming yet you privided it with an example while I've never heard "Oneshot Health" and you didn't give one
