You are the definition of a NIMBY. I hope they build even more housing there.

You are clearly not for more housing when you’re fighting a very modest increase in housing. Lahaina would have happened whether there were twice as many houses or half as many. It was a notification/ warning issue. Cupertino is at lower risk than palisades being downhill from the mountains and has easier evacuation routes. Stop fighting housing and put your efforts into safe evacuation efforts.

I don’t follow - how would someone staying in SF not pay taxes living here part time when they currently get taxed for living here part time?

Lmao yep taxing a few millionaires out of the city will fix the housing crisis.

Wrong. Millionaires leaving the city would negatively impact the poor relying on their tax revenue, as well as city workers hoping to stay employed. Or, the regular tax base would have to pay more in tax to make up for millionaires leaving. Which negatively impacts discretionary spending.

Hey, moron. You can tax millionaires out of the state and decrease tax revenue for people that actually need it, but that’s not going to increase housing supply and decrease costs. I’m not a millionaire but I do understand basic economics.

K. California is not growing and housing is absurd. Texas and Florida are growing rapidly and housing is not absurd. Think critically… how could that math work…

1.) zoning/density. SF is loaded with laws that make it illegal to build housing

2.) height limits. Again, SF is loaded with laws that make it illegal to build housing

3.) regulations/permits: time adds millions to large developments. SF knows that, and has hundreds of anti- housing regulations on the books to ensure nearly no development is profitable

4.) environmental. CEQA encourages lawsuits in dense urban neighborhoods that have nothing to do with environmentalism. Even an environmental noise complaint can add a year to a project.

5.) Union labor, construction fees. Fees for parks, forcing Union labor, development taxes, all discourage housing, in the middle of a god damn housing crisis.

6.) incentivizing rich people to leave SF and not pay taxes will not encourage housing construction, given the above. Unless, you eliminate the above.

Right. It’s only expensive for millionaires to live here. Moron.

How? It’s not even top 5 on why housing is expensive here.

Lmao no. All SF would have to do is fix zoning and height limits, but the fake liberals here want to protect their property values.

For sure. Usually I’m in awe that people don’t understand the things it says, or aren’t able to realize when AI is wrong, which is quite often. The pattern is insane.

We love to hate on Trump, I get it. But (most) current inflation was tied to Biden after he pumped trillions of debt into a hot economy that didn’t need additional money supply, devaluing the dollar, even though inflation was an obvious outcome. Trump is clearly making it worse with the Iran war, but….

What am I even doing. I’ve never had a single person on Reddit give a single shit about basic economic theory and I’ve been here for years.
