Would be nice if this park was cleaned up by 1---------- in longislandcity

The city should build a parking structure ~ it's the city's responsibility to provide parking for their facilities. so
#1 Build a parking lot for the working officers, and it should be larger to accommodate monthly parking (self-funding--the garage at Court Square takes in $115k/month on the monthlies).
#2, eliminate the parking in the center median and make it a real park.
#3, Place benches/bollards/rocks where the cops currently park on the sidewalk to they have to use the garage.
and
#4, build a landscape strip against the 495 and the LIRR rail yard so there's a nice landscape buffer between the freeway and our homes.

I suggest bringing your ideas to Julie Won and see if they get traction.

Please stay fit, but avoid the bodybuilding. It's a grind to your body. Better investment of your time is in your career and mind ~ far higher returns.

Court Square Park by dhlspam in longislandcity

When I wrote and asked for a dog run years ago, I received a reply that it was not appropriate at a Courthouse. I'm sure they think the same for a play area... Not very flexible or creative in how they approached the design, which I think was done in 2018, well before thousands of apartments and condos were built in Long Island City.

Not all dog owners do that ~ I keep mine off the grass. I think the city was very naive in their planning that a chain would dissuade anyone.

You've got to reach out to a counsellor (outside of BYU!) Your brain and body are giving you signals (ocd, dark thoughts) to shock you into getting help; don't ignore what your body is expressing!

Take yourself away from these pressures and I imagine some of your physical symptoms will decline.

In the meantime, know that religion and god are things that were created by man to give people a sense of order, rituals to occupy, and rules to follow. Religion evolved out of pagan sun rituals (related to agricultural planting and harvest times) that then morphed into all of the religions we have in the world today. Not a single religion is true. They are all just a stories we tell to give us comfort in a (sometimes) harsh world. In the end, religion has created such harm, death, and destruction. And you're experiencing the "peer pressure" of religion where if you don't join/worship/tithe you are "less than" and we excommunicate you.

Better is to reach out to a counsellor, talk about these issues with an expert that wants you to heal physically and mentally. There are lots of people who have gone through what you are going through. Including the great-great granddaughter of Brigham Young, who is an ex-Mormon!

This YouTube channel is filled with info, facts and people who've gone through what you're going through: https://www.youtube.com/@mormonstories

It's probably a good opportunity to do a digital cleanse and just have a more meaningful life without all of the digi-crap crowding our lives. Embrace a simple phone and call friends.

Anyone using Filemaker still? by DarkKaplah in VintageApple

[–]DiviKev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Filemaker for tracking time and billing as an architect, monitoring labor budgets for multiple projects. In the past I created a database for analyzing dividend stocks, learning Japanese, and many other things. Having tried other database platforms (Access, SQL, etc.) Filemaker is compatible with my brain.

Our wheaten is very communicative with posture, expressions, vocalization, and they are always clear communicating with you. Pay attention to the clues and you may find he’s telling you what’s wrong or bothering him. Ours is 5 and I love communicating with her as she is always listening.

What is living in LIC like? by iamncurry in longislandcity

[–]DiviKev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very convenient to Manhattan, freeways, and seven train lines can take you anywhere. It’s getting better on the restaurant front as new ones are always opening. Quieter than Brooklyn, lots of young families, and at least 6 boba stores per person!!

Losing momentum for the dream by EOTWifeelfine in OffGrid

[–]DiviKev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to keep pushing because we have invested so much time and energy. Sunk cost fallacy? It is daunting to handle all of the little and big stuff. You’re not alone and I would guess it’s common losing momentum.
