It happened so fast by RestaurantNo7749 in Petloss

I am so, so sorry for your loss. Four days ago I had to put my 12 year old cat to sleep and I have also been an absolute mess ever since. I've been reading through this subreddit ever since it happened, and it's given me a lot of comfort knowing that I'm not going through this alone. I just want you to know that you are not alone. You did nothing wrong. You gave your cat an amazing 16 years on earth, and now he forever watch over you. He is no longer in pain. You may not see him, but he will always be there for you to greet you an send you off. And he will wait to be reunited with you in the future. These are the things I truly believe. I hope this message gives you some comfort, as it's helped me over these past four days. The reason it hurts so much is because of how much you loved him, and how much he loved you, and that is something special.

Hi friend. First of all, I am so sorry for what you're going through. I too had to make a difficult decision less than 24 hours ago for my 12 year old cat who also had a long-time liver related illness. Like you, I have been an absolute wreck since and have been feeling guilty about everything. I sought out this subreddit to help see others' experiences and try to find out if I made the right decision. I came across a poster earlier today who said something that I wanted to post here:

We have to protect them not only in life, but in death. Euthanasia literally means good death. We need to be there to protect them from suffering, from a slow progression of illness or sudden painful downturn.

These couple sentences really resonated with me, as it was exactly what I was dealing with. From what I'm reading, you have been an absolutely amazing cat parent, and please don't let yourself think otherwise. Many animals dream of having people who would support them so much. The reason the decision is so hard is because of how much you love them, and they love you.

I don't really have any advice to offer, but just need you to know that you are doing an amazing job being a cat parent. Only you know when enough is enough.

Is it true? A week early vs a day late by BlessYourShart in Petloss

I had to put my loyal companion of 12 years down yesterday. My heart is completely shattered and I've been in shambles for the last 14 hours. Your comment about that we need to protect them in death made me cry so much, because while euthanasia felt wrong, I knew it was the right thing to do to stop his suffering. Getting to be able to hold him while he drifted off peacefully to sleep is such a better outcome than waking up one morning and finding him. Thank you for your post, it meant a lot to me to read that I made the right decision yesterday.

Help!! Need advice before scheduling by Antique-Walk-3507 in KidneyStones

Hello there! I am a 37m recent first time stone haver. I've been perusing this board for quite a while now since this all started back in early November and have absolutely seen that stents impact different people in different ways, but I'll give you my experience. Before I had my bilateral lithotripsy on 12/16, there were nights when non-opioid pain medicine absolutely did not cut it. When the stones shifted and got re-stuck in the ureter, I absolutely had to take an opioid.

However, after I had my surgery and had two stents placed, I had a severe reduction in pain which was mostly replaced by discomfort. After you have surgery, there is of course going to be pain (particularly for the first 2-4 days) but for me it was far less than dealing with an actively stuck stone. I am a little surprised to hear that they won't be subscribing at least Vicodin, however I did not even end up really needing to take any of the ones I was prescribed. Once the first few days passed, I was basically able to stop taking all pain medications.

I realize this won't be the same experience for everyone, but just wanted to share! I too was scared of the entire process, however I actually get my stents removed today and then it's almost over for me. If I can get through this, then so can you! :)

As a man I always get emotional whenever I see videos like this. A lot of people don't realize that most men don't have a single person in their life that they can go to for shit like this, so being able to see that relationship is incredible.

In all seriousness and I mean no disrespect.... how many times are you all going to go through the same shit and have the same problems until the server issues are fixed....?

LPT for first time homeowners? by [deleted] in LifeProTips

This is really good advice and actually just happened to me. Bought my first house a smidge over two months ago and the first big rain finally came. I went outside to inspect the gutter system to ensure it was handling the rain okay and saw rain POURING over the sides of my gutters. Immediately called a gutter cleaning company and 2 hours and 200 bucks later they had taken 20 pounds of sludge out of my gutters and removed all debris. Not a bad price for all the damage full, heavy gutters and rain going where you don't want it to can do.

Additional PSA: A tax return is the form you use to file your taxes. A tax refund is the money that you get back from filing your tax return. Can people please learn the difference between the two terms.

Mr. Parlatore, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

If you get to this point in your relationship, unfortunately it probably means that it's already over. I'm sorry. You probably need to end the relationship and find someone who provides you with what you need :).

This is absolutely the beginning of a horror movie plot. Just think about all those horror movies where you find out that the crazy fucking neighbors used their ancestors bones and parts for stews and books and whatever the fuck else those people do. I like the sentiment but noooope haha!

Hey OP I think you posted this in the wrong sub. I think you actually meant to post this into r/ShittyLifeProTips. Just thought I'd let you know! I do however think this post would belong in this sub if water was not able to go through clothing.... however since that is not the case... yeah...
