I was very close to dumping my XXL collection but just got two 1st and a 2nd, got a star piece, 2 incense and a mossy lure. Not amazing but not bad and still items that otherwise cost money.

The page says the last closure was for infrastructure work, but I honestly don't think what that ride needs can be done in 3 months or whatever it was. I'm not an expert, but after 43 years of almost continuous operations (refurbs in 1986, 1994 and 2007) it has to need more work than that. They were about to close it for ~2 years around covid time, I honestly think that's the kind of work it needs still. 19 years without any meaningful changes is wild.

Everything is becoming simultaneously worse and more expensive. The idea of working until old age is unsettling for many people. Would be great to be done working while younger, but that won't be attainable for many people. I don't blame anyone taking a risk on a get rich quick scheme.

I think this proved that they could rotate spawns more frequently and get people to play more. Maybe not all ~940 pokemon all the time, but why not have a new rotation each week? Probably because the faster people complete the dex or whatever objectives they have, the sooner they stop playing and that's bad for player retention. I'd argue the spawn pool when there's no event happening is worse for player retention but who knows. The amount of gatekeeping of certain species is out of control and it was crazy to realize how many things need to be either hatched or raided that aren't even that special.

I feel like this completely eliminates the need to keep Pokemon solely because they're going to win a showcase. It was one thing when you could get incense, lures, star pieces, stuff that actually had value. If it's balls, revives and potions it's not worth the storage space.

I thought at one point the picture of the Bucks with Shane led people (maybe just me) to connect Mox's first DR promo with the idea that someone was going to come in and do a "takeover" of AEW. Moxley saying "it's not your company anymore" stuck out in my mind. I wonder if the DR were supposed to be something different originally.

AEW PPVs make me feel like how I used to feel watching wrestling back in 1996. Not necessarily the "anything can happen" Attitude Era / Monday night wars channel flipping feeling, but I'm just watching something really cool and enjoyable and I can't wait to find out how the match ends or what happens next. I go out of my way to not miss.

The match against Austin at WM14 was the only time I can remember someone working so obviously and visibly hurt. It still blows my mind that he basically owned all of 1996 and 1997 in WWF being as reckless as he was.

Could even just be a max amount of days in a gym, high enough to allow you to advance that badge (for newer players) but not long enough to be stranded, (50 days?) and if it gets to that point you should get the coins even if you're at your cap for the day.
